Hi y'all,
Someone suggested I check out this thread. Good Googly moo! How do y'all keep up with it all!
I'm new to this forum, a neighbor of Horseshoe's in Efland NC. I have a little farm, with Rhode Island Reds, Dominiquers (sp) (where is spell check!) Peacock/hen,
bantams, silkies, guineas (my favorite) one cocker spanial, one white persian, one barn kitty, 2 zebra finchs (who lay a WHOLE Bunch of eggs that never hatch!)
I'm allergic to eggs, so I use my eggs to nurish the soil, and plant stuff from Horseshoes greenhouse :-)
I want a cow someday (sigh) but I probably couldn't handle it by myself, and my 14 year old son isn't into farming although he likes the animals, and my boyfriend dosn't really like any of it but the pond where there are great bass fish and brim to catch! I guess that's why I love the animals, they always seem happy to see me :-) I love planting, digging in the dirt, plowing with the tractor, and gardening in general. I have a brown thumb inside, and can't even grow a silk plant inside. Outside I can grow anything! If it has to go in a Jiffy pot to get started inside, I'll kill it! If it goes straight in the ground, I got it covered :-) I use chicken manure and crushed eggs on everything! And love to find ways to recycle stuff to use in the garden.
Oh and this year I'm learning about herbs.
Well I guess that's enough jabbering for now. I look forward to listening and learning!
