lemon Guava

I bought this at a tropical nursery. I'd been wanting one for a while. My friend from India said this is a good fruit to naturally control cholesterol. He also said the way to propigate it is by seeds. No wonder we couldn't get any cuttings to root.

Eclipse, Hans said it's about 3 months away from ripening. Your seeds will be on the way when it gets ripe!! I haven't ever tasted the lemon guava. I was at the nursery and they had this big plant for $6, I couldn't pass it up.

cala, I have but it is called Strawberry Guava, it is also loaded with fruit. I wonder if it is the same? It sure looks like it.

I saw one of those growing in Australia but had no idea what it was...thought it was a lime tree. LOL

This is really interesting . . . lemon guava, strawberry guave and I was told that mine was a pineapple guava. I wonder if they are all the same thing or eeach different.

Cala . . no wonder, after numerous tries, I could not get the tip cuttings to root. I also have fruit on mine now but I am assuming that I have to let the fruit dry up and then there will be seeds inside. My friend use to make jelly from one like I have. Also, Cala you got a great buy!!

I am going to start a new thread with a picture of the bloom of the one that I have and its botanical name. Cala my leaves are a dark green and a very light color on the back so I am not sure mine is the same thing.

Brugnanny, I also had a pineapple guava where I used to live, however, it didn't survive our floods of last year. I was thrilled when I found this Strawberry Guava. I too wondered if it were the same thing.

Lisa . . from what I just read, I do not think they are the same thing. If I get seeds and I think I will because they are in the fruit, I will be more than happy to send you some. I am really curious now to see the fruit when it completely ripens. My pineapple guava is probably about 7-8 feet tall. I was fortunate to have it given to me by a friend and we just planted it in our garden several months ago.
