Great picture!! Just wondering if people walk by and smell the brugs when they bloom. I would. Love all the tropicals in there.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I love it Kyle. finally talked my DH (you know, that good looking one?) into giving up the front bed for tropicals. Making it oval and trying to come up with a plant design, unfortunately we won't get much in in time for this year. How big is this bed, and what do you do with it in winter?

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Wow Kyle. Love the colors combination down on the ground. Very very nice. I bet the neighbors have a beautiful site to feast their eyes upon of they are driving / walking by.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

tiG all the plants are tender so they either get brought in for winter or freeze. the bed is about 40 feet long total length and about 4 feet wide. Next year it will be deeper..about 6 foot.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

do you put in anything for winter bloom?

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Wonderful picture of leaf textures and colors dominating the foreground. I love your use of dark and lime green coleus contrasting each other, as well as, tropical palms, bird-of-paradise (??? are you growing that to ???), sedges, caladium and some that I can't identify. The tropics have come to Iowa!!!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Absolutely wonderful! Please don't tell me that all of these are being wintered elsewhere. They're going into your home GH?? Can I please, please, please see a picture of your winter quarters????

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Shirley1... I do have giant Bird of para. in this bed a little farther down the fence and to the street side they are about 3 feet high now..Liz I have no greenhouse..I put my tropicals in the basement for winter and they go semi dormant..Very little light and low temps.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It's gorgeous. What is that variegated EE on the right end? I like it.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Brewers, KY(Zone 6b)

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Kyle, I love the color combinations, especially the blackie by the colorful coleus. Another idea I'm gonna have to steal from you. Really, really pretty.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

calalily the EE is Alocasia macrorhizza variegata..this one doesn't curl at the edges like Mickey Mouse does.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

very nice Kyle.

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

Kyle, At the risk of sounding stupid, which one is the papaya? Is that it on the left back?

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Do you move your Bird of Paradise inside for the winter and then back out in the summer? If it is as big as mine, I definitely can't move that sucker! Mine has to remain a permanent indoor resident:~)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

sorry, Kyle, but they do look the same otherwise, am I right?

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Absolutely wonderful!! You have done an excellent job in you show of plants.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

The papaya is behind the banana..its small but setting buds at the tip....tiG they are similar in coloration.

Shirley1 I will bring the paradise (birds) in and plant in 10 gal pots later this fall.

Ellicott City, MD(Zone 7a)

Have you ever got the Bird of Paradise to bloom for you?

Mine hasn't since it is an "indoor" plant.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Shirley1..I have the regular bird of paradise in a pot that goes outside in summer and is indoors in winter..it bloomed last winter. The giant birds won't bloom until they get very tall 8 feet or more.

Hamilton, Canada

Eight feet tall?? Let me see now, maybe my BOP will bloom in about 5 more years or so...lol.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Kyle, what is the very colorful plant on the bottom left beside the blackie? is that coleus or something else??

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

tiG, do you have Ace of Spades? I'm going to root some of them if you need any.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

tiG the dark plants are a coleus Black Knight with coleus sparkler between them.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)
