My grandaughter decided today that the little seedlings (from Cala's seeds) needed to be potted up. She loves brugs like her Nanny. She doesn't mind getting those little hands dirty or being in 100 degree weather in the shade - - helpers like her just don't get any better!! At the age of 6 she even knows the importance of labeling.
Planting Cala's Seedlings
Frannie,
Never to young to start.
you are a lucky woman!
Frannie, she is a cutie and looks like she really gets involved in her work. She will remember these fun days with her Nanny.
Looks like the start of a serious Brug grower.
So cute!! What a great job she is doing. What kind of pen is she using? Ask her to bring it with her when she comes to help me!
What a sweet helper!! She looks so serious. I'm sure she will be a great brug hybridizer some day.
what a cute helper!!!!
Kell . . It is a white Dixon China Marker. I have used many different types of markers and paint pens, but I find these work best for me and they are not messy. They can be found at hardware stores and I am sure Home Depot carries them.
That China Marker pen, is it a washable mark?
Thanks Bruganny!
What a cutie.
Hibiscus . . a china marker is not a pen but a pencil type marker that is like crayon but is not. I don't know what it is made out of but it stays on the pots until you scrub it off. I like it because when I reuse pots I can use a little nylon scrubber and take it off when I wash my pots. The paint pen markings, I could never get completely off and it was just too much work trying to. The garden markers don't show up well on black pots and with little ones (grandchildren) around I worry about the plastic stick markers being relocated LOL. The china marker has a string that you pull and then you unwrap the paper around it to keep some of the marker exposed (like some of those erasers that you can buy). I know that I am probably not explaining it very well.
Brugnanny, I know what you're talking about!! We call them grease pens.
