Good morning everyone! Took my short little trip to San Diego this past weekend - had a wonderful time. Weather is absolutely beautiful there. I was surprised. Did a lot of things in two short days. One could spend a good week in San Diego and find something to do. And everyone was so friendly. Several times, dh had one of his sneezing attacks and complete strangers would "bless him".

Unfortunately, dd had to put up with the extreme heat while we were gone. On Saturday and Sunday, the temps were above 100 and the heat index was 109. We did have one ewe that may have been affected by the heat. You may remember my referral to Snake, our thin ewe. She is really thin. We moved her up into the show calf barn where it is much cooler and we are giving her some appetite express. Called the vet this a.m. and said to give her long acting penicyllin and dexamethasone (sp?) We will also drench her with Gatorade tonight to replace the electrolytes. Feel good though that even though it was so hot that we didn't have more livestock problems.

We missed out on a good rain this past weekend. Just went a few miles north of us. Called a guy about buying hay last night. We already had an order in for 20 big bales and he said since we are past customers, he will let us have 15 more bales. Didn't ask the price though.

As I flew west out Omaha and looked down in western Nebraska and further west, everything, except for the center pivot circles, was so brown looking. Several of dd's friends who live in western Nebr said they have weaned and sold their calves already because of lack of moisture. Some of them irrigate and they get up every morning at 5:00 to move irrigation pipe. It is turning out to be a very long summer. Will keep on praying for that much needed rain.

You all take care - have lots to catch up on.
