I thought importing from India was a nono?? would that include seeds? no, not me, but a company I'm trying to convince that there are no purple brugmansia said he is importing seeds from India. I thought that was one of the two places you couldn't import from.
importing
TiG, that's what I was told, India and Colombia, they are no-nos as far as getting any plants in from.(not sure if that applies to seeds, will have to ask Hans)
would you mind??
You may have to email me and remind me, but I'll call him on Monday.
I could import seeds from both India and Colombia, but here goes the same rules as the US gov. use towards the rest of the world. LOL Seeds from the tirth wordl must have a phyto to enter into Denmark. However, I don`t think that a purple or blue Brug are worth the trouble. LOL LOL
I got an e-mail yesterday from an Indian company, that wants to do business and they have such Brugmansia with purple flowers. Now, folks. Don`t buy it. Its D. metel varieties. A blue Brug don`t exist!!! ... yet. LOL:

This is not to say anything bad about anyone. LOL Just that the seeds aren`t Purple or blue Brugs.
tiG make them prove it by sending you seeds....lots of them, one for each of us............... we will be the judges LOL
Tonny, would you be willing to send the company I'm talking with your info? you are so knowledgable, and it would really help. The company is really interested in learning. I feel that the seeds and company in India are the same. lmk
tiG, email me their address and I will do my best :-)
Buying wrongly labeled seeds in larger quantities is expensive "learning money" and is to be taken very serious.
I remember several of te´he houses, that Lene and I looked at, before finding our current paradise.
Many appeared to be in good shape or what you would call it in US. LOL Then when I read through the paperworks I sometimes found, that the price was fantastical low and my first thought is, "What is wrong here? Which facts are the dealer and the seller hiding?"
I used to say to Lene "Well forget it! There is something wrong with it and we are going to be stuck with, whatever it is for many years."
By closer inspection I found the foults of the houses and some would cost two new houses to repair, other houses should be torn down and sold as bricks. LOL
It is the same with Brugs. LOL
tiG... just a suggestion. why not write Dinu? maybe he can find out on ur behalf. before some money get involve in the picture. am sure Dinu will be more than willing to give a helping hand. after all Dinu resides in India. just a thought.
right MaVie, but he doesn't know our import regs and as Tonny is the datura expert, I feel he can explain to this nice guy what's really going on with those seeds (not being purple brugmansia). I don't want to see anything come in that would hurt our brugs though, that's the only reason I asked about India.
thanks Tonny!
Tonny,
I saw that post by the companies you refer to. Those are not brugmansia seeds but DATURA-ie Black Current Swirl is definately a datura and not a brug as they have it listed. I've grown the Black Current Swirl and its definately a datura!!!
This nice man has cancelled his sale and ordered that the seeds be incinerated if they get here. He was extremely nice. He thanked me for caring enough to write.
The name here is correct, but thinking on that Datura is separated from Brugs by the position of the flower maybe a picture like this one have inspired the myth of the blue Brug:
http://naturalselections.safeshopper.com/10/69.htm?180
Older and well branched Datura plants will carry their flowers horisontal or pending, whereas especially B. aures can carry its flowers from almost erect to hanging depending of the growth direction of the branches.
And remember the brug Liz has that has flowers looking at the heavens................
