Baker City, OR(Zone 5b)

Hello farmers. Lisa, how did the market go today? I hope you sold out all your cheese and fig jam, etc. What else do you take? Hot sauce and salsa I bet.
I just took a 3 hr ride on Breezy out in the hills. It's hot out there, I had a pint of water with me but it wasn't enough. There are places for a horse to drink but nothing I want for myself out there. We scared up a fawn with spots, he went running through the sagebrush looking for a new place to hide, or maybe just made a circle and went back to his bed after we passed. I didn't know he was there until I saw him running. We came home a different way so as not to disturb him again. I also saw where a snake had slithered across the jeep road, that made me wonder how long ago. There is still a lot of feed for cattle out there in some of the BLM pastures. One pasture still had salt out, plenty of water, fairly fresh signs of cattle being there but I rode all over it and never saw a cow. That has me wondering. The gates were all closed, and there were some 4 wheeler tracks so it looks like they were taken to corrals for vaccinations or something. Probably when I ride up there tomorrow they will be back.
Time to get after the weeds now that I got cooled off again. Yesterday I got a lot done in the yard while staying near the phone waiting for a call which finally came at 3:30. Have a great day everyone, count your blessings.
