This is a pic of Temple Goddess.....a versicolor hybrid I did several years back..hard to see well in this pic..but the corolla edges on Temple Goddess are really fluted or ruffled. The flowers hang straight down.Heavy fragrance, also stays white as it ages. :-)
brug "Temple Goddess"
Beautiful, simply beautiful.
Brugman....I don't know if the ruffles carry over..I have never crossed anything to this hybrid. It s a result of a Ver. Peach X Ver. E. Pink cross. You will always get tons of white versicolors when crossing versicolors together.A rather dominant trait. :-)
Kyle, very nice :)
Eclipse,
Speaking of those ruffles...have you noticed how Butterfly has flowers pointing at a 90 degree angle where as Rosabelle has flowers that tend to angle at about a 45 degree angle. Personally, I like the 90 degree angle a bit more from the butterfly...that and the fact that she is very fragrant, very fast growing, and a great seed producer. As butterfly is a Rothkirch hybrid and Rosabelle is a Rothkirch hybrid...its interesting to note that Rosabelle angles downward much more dramatically and is a heavier bloomer for me. Rosabelle just tends to have a very hard time keeping its seedpods as they tend to rot. I think some of the reason for the seedpod rotting on Rosabelle though is because the calyx tends to point upwards...almost like a datura, when the corolla falls out....I know I ramble a bit, but I would be interested in seeing if Butterfly crossed to your temple goddess might through out a few dark pinks with some ruffled edges....
Do you have Temple Goddess? I have a butterfly..but a ways from blooming.Temple Goddess here hates real hot weather so will be fall before it really getws blooming well.We may have to cross it.We need to start a pollen swap forum for brugs.Would save everyone much time in getting pods to set instead of waiting for cuttings to grow large enough to bloom.
Eclipse,
Looks like were going to have to find a way to get you some Butterfly pollen a bit sooner as it sounds as if your itching to cross with it. How far off is your Butterfly from blooming?
Brugmansia my butterfly hasn't even y'd yet..its about 3 ft tall now.

I have grown this one of yours several years (yes, I did know this one was yours!).

joydie..I can try that cross! :-)
So Eclipse - inquiring minds want to know - how did you hit on the name Temple Goddess??
Liz...I was on an Inca craze them...Temple Goddess...as in a Sacred icon of the Inca empire..or to do with the Incan temples.I could see a white brug growing near the kings palace in the City of the incas.....in my imagination.I hate just color names..pink this white that..this is more exciting..don't ya think?? LOL
i agree eclipse, pink this and this pink, confuse me. someday i am gonna name one after my dad, if janet reno can have one he can.... (Floyd Ellis) lol.....
