Pretty Poppies. Nice color. My poppies are all but done for this year. Now I'm waiting on the seed heads to dry.

Arlene, wonder if you could grow them as a winter annual?

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

this is the last of my poppies, and I too have plants that I am waiting to dry for seeds.
Arlene, I can send you some seeds, it never hurts to try....you can pop them in the fridge for a bit, then sprinkle them outside, should mimic mother nature....

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Pebble, so for poppy seeds you need to cool them for awhile? If you spread them out now, will they wait and grow in the spring?
thanks

kell, they should, but what worries me, is that they need light to germinate, and if you sprinkle them now, they are liable to get covered, then fall and falling leaves, etc., and in the early spring when they are supposed to break their dormancy, they might be covered, but to tell you the truth, these are re-seeded ones fromlast year, and though they congregated behind the flower beds, they are still smashing.
