Jessie Noel (yellow) is Glory's hybrid and is so pretty. She also sent me the seed for Isabella x Unknown. This is the second day of the bloom and it is pale pink and appears to not like the heat - even in the cloud cover that we are having.
Jessie Noel and Isabella Cross
it looks like a long flower, how do you like it? i put BF on jessie noel, waiting to see if it stuck.
Arlene . . I sure hope that pollen stuck. That sounds like a cross with lots of potential. Isabella X is not that long maybe 6". I think it looks long because it is not open wide. I will wait and see what it does tomorrow or maybe the next time it blooms. It has to do more than this for me to like it and keep it.
does everyone have first year seedlings blooming?????? is this unheard of????
tig, seems to be a florida/texas thing, save people with greenhouses.... I am dying to know what Brugman has blooming..... i didn't start the WP X B until feb/march, seed fear. only kept 2 one came up. i do have DrS X BF with a bud on it and i started that seed too! don't think it'll open by friday. all these first year seedlings have straight up stalks with no place to cut on, no kidding, even Ora Belle who is 7 feet tall....
I have one of Eric's that has buds, started 1-1-02. May have more before fall, I'm crossing my fingers.
Brugcrazy, yes. i sent a lot of seeds away which i guess worked out. congrats, tig...is it the insignis gold X BF? i'm sure you'll have more.
no, that one both Dee and I thought we saw buds. But wasn't. But it's Ying and is several feet tall. Have two of them. It's ? x Bfly that has a large bud, and several of the Dr D x EP look like they will Y very very soon.
Tig . . it is really amazing that seeds can be planted in February and by July all the Isabella crosses are 6-7 feet tall (as Arlene said straight up) and with buds. That's only 5-6 months and is almost unbelievable. Some of my other seedlings are not nearly that big and have not Y'd.
Looks like we could have some more people breeding for early bloomers with all of these early bloomers. Congrats Brugnanny,Tig and Arlene!!
Arlene, Erics white hybrid seeds you sent me and the versi Peach x Butterfly that I grew have both Y'd and have small buds so I will have blooms soon.I'm also amazed at how fast the cuttings are blooming too. Some are so small and already have buds.
Snow, i am so curious about that white X.... that plant sets seeds like no other brugs i have....every single bud. also waiting to see what your VP X BF looks like....
I have EP X White Jean Pasko starting to bud at only 30 inches high at work!
My seeds from Eric's Isabella X Butterfly grew so slow until I got them outside and then they took off. One has bloomed and another has budded. Also have some from him labeled Isabella X Pink? and they are budded now also. Have some other seeds from a friend that have Y'd and budded and were started late winter, probably Feb. Can't remember and didn't mark them. So, like Eric said, we seem to be getting some early bloomers from all of these seeds. Isn't it great?
Brugie . . What did the bloom on Isabella x Butterfly look like? All these very early bloomers are truly amazing.
Snow . . I am anxious to see Peach x Butterfly.
Frannie, it was white. I have another one getting ready to bloom in a while and am hoping for some color on it. The fragrance was strong.
Me too BrugNanny, I hope it's as pretty as the one Arlene has.
I have buds on some Charles Grimaldi seedlings that I started last year. I have a y on a seedling from LBJ that Snow sent me and more buds on CC's babies.
Snow, i'd like to see it the same kinda shape, maybe longer tendrils, and BF pink. now that's a goal. guess i'll put some pink beauty or butterfly on it, and rosa traum when she is ready, and who knows what else. maybe EP.
Ms. Brugie, i am glad to hear you have a bunch of seedlings going good.
Sounds like some great crosses Arlene.
I am still fixated on the very first line............Glory your creation is so great!! I just love it!
Whiskers was one that was planted from a seed in the early part of Jan and bloomed by early Sept of the same year....the Aurea Hybrids seem to grow in leaps and bounds.
Glory, Whiskers is one of my favorites. The bloom seems to last the longest and smells heavenly. A beautiful flower and so glad I have it.
Snow . . . I agree with you about Whiskers. It takes the heat here better than most and the bloom lasts for days and it is one of the prettiest flowers. I am so happy to have this one also.
Frannie,
My Whiskers has been blooming non stop since the spring....I do believe it is one of the best for this heat we have.
