Book on Container gardening

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

I had borrowed from a friend, a book "Practical Gardening - Containers" by David Squire. I enjoyed keeping it with me for a couple of months. I also made a brick planter from an idea in the book. The pictures in that book were stunning. Such good books aren't available in shops here in Mysore.

Hi Dinu, A couple of possible sources that may ship to you.

You are sure welcome.

Dinu - you may also want to checvk out the gardening books on e-bay. You can get some real bargains there. Not all sellers will ship out of the country but many of them do.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Thanks Poppysue, I did check e-bay once or twice before. But a major part my spare time is spent in visiting DG :)!

Dinu - is this it? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/1572150262/qid=1027483530/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-4929308-9541657 I see there are a few used copies available at the link on the right ... You can always write the sellers and ask if they will ship to India

Poppysue, thanks. I am actually looking for a book where plants are listed with photos and short descriptions of them -- sort of a reference book, not this particular one. MVR tried to help me but she was of the opinion that the bargains and the quality don't match. How can I buy a book without having a look at it?

Dinu,
See if you can find the same book in a library.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

Thanks Jodie1, I'll try to do that.

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

I know what you mean Dinu! The good books cost a fortune and the ones I can afford lack the quality I want! I have found a couple at second hand book stores but it seems that the really good ones are seldom sold used.

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

You r right Zany. Often, we find ourselves that our desires and affordability are not in healthy proportion! There is an old proverb "Stretch your legs just as long as your bed." (directly translated from Kannada)

Scotia, CA(Zone 9b)

LOL Dinu I will have to print that proverb out for my Dad who has always complained they only make beds for midgets!

Mysore, India(Zone 10a)

LOL. Your dad should be real tall. Coming to the literal thing, the West Indies fast bowlers while touring England some years ago complained about short beds. Their average height is about 6'4". One of them was found sleeping in the hotel room with his legs out of the window because there was no space inside!! Some of them ended up with sore backs what with the soft beds. The team manager had to complain this seemingly trivial but serious problem to the authorities.

HA! Can you imagine passing by on the street and seeing those feet sticking out the window! You would think a giant was at the Inn!
