First Flower on "Snow Cone".
Snow Cone Brug
Vey lovely! I like the 'whites'.
Another beauty!
Hey, very pretty. I've never heard of Snowcone.
S.
this one came from Larry...not sure if it's his hybrid or who's.
That's really pretty. The name fits it.
G. This is a very pretty white one. It looks very pure in color and I also like the shape. The name is fitting. How is the fragrance?
It looks so pure white. It must look great at night!
Lovely
Frannie,
It smells great!!!!
it does look like the purest white I've seen. how is it in person?
Very white and smells very nice.
I do believe it's Larry's...I'll email him and ask.
That's beautiful! I love the pure white and I'm glad it has the perfume.
WOW, that is a beauty! the only pure white blooming in my yard is Casa Blanca oriental lily. i guess until the brugs i grow goes to a specific height will i get a bloom around here. at least, i've resolved to that conclusion :).
Yes, she's a beaut and she is Ecuador pink x Dr.Sues if memory serves me.
that's amaziing-you can get white from pink x yellow! You guys amaze me.
Okay-I know I'm terrible, but I didn't notice that no one noticed who's hybrid the above was. Yes, that is indeed Larry Smith's hybrid or my memory is getting worse than ever.
Brugman,
You are right...this one is from Larry. Would you explain the answer to Marie's question?
Glory,
What is growing behind the bloom? Plumeria??
Hibiscus,
That is an evergreen bush behind the Brug....can't remember the name but it doesnt do much except just sits there.
Glory, I have to admit Monika or Kyle would be the best one to answer this one for us.
yes it is mine
the seedling grew to 22ft. in 11 mo.
that was with low fert. in the water and it was watered 3 times a day last summer
It's a very heavy bloomer and very white
pc has been down for nearly 3 mo.
and this has been a very bad summer
for me personaly
I only crossed to get 8 pods in the early spring
and the "Nina Lane" (Suav. DOUBLE WHITE bloom that Tonny posted)
X V. "Ecuador Pink" pod was pulled last week
so there are seeds for the lucky few
Larry J. Smith
So sorry Larry that your summer has not gone well. You have certainly made some beautiful crosses in the past and I'm sure you will get some more out of these new ones even if you don't have a whole lot of pods. It only takes one seed though to make a very special new Brug.
Amazing how fast that seedling grew. It is a beautiful flower.
Quite impressive Datura pod. I have tried to set some seedpods on an unknown 6 pointed peach candida type...crossed to Candida pink of unknown parentage as well. Just hoping to get a few descent seedpods from this cross myself.
White is the dominant color in Brugmansias, when two different colors were crossed.
larry,
the nina lane seeds I have are they the ones crossed with Versi. EP? I did change the name from betty marshall, but wondered what it was crossed with.
I've missed something here - I have some of Larry's seedlings marked Betty Marshall cross, they come from Tonny. These seeds should get air miles points. Nina Lane?
I'm confused ~~~(normal)
Larry, my Snowcone have Y`ed. I got it since early spring, so its a big moment here. *LOL* The bud is maybe 6-7 mm long. I hope for nice weather, so it stay on. :-) Larry, will it bloom inside the wintergarden? There will be both large side windown and almost transperant roof and temps. of 15-18 *C:?
Liz,
Anything originally marked Betty Marshall has to be changed to Nina Lane hybrid cross. Nina Lane was the offspring of Betty Marshall hybrid. Hope this helps.
Kris from Rowlett gave me some brugs in late July. One is labled "Snow Cone" . The shorter stem coming from base of plant had a few small buds on it when I got it. That branch had Y'ed at about 7". It put out 4 blooms really fast. Each opened bloom lasted almost a week!!!! There is still one bloom that is now not "plumped up" but still not browing. It is at least a week old from opening. And the smell was heavenly... very citris with almost no "soap" smell to it. The poor little stem was only about 14" tall max so I had to prop up the very long buds and then blooms to keep them from opening "into the ground". The main stem, about 40" is heavily branched with lateral branches but no apparent Y's yet with many cuttings previously taken off of lateral points. It certainly seems to be a keeper.
This "Snow Cone" and 3 other pretty good sized Brugs given to me by Kris are my first Brugs. What a way to get started!!!
Thanks, so very much Kris. They are very happy here.
BTW.. the other three: Jamacia Yellow (48"), already bloomed with new buds at various stages and one cutting potted, Whiskers, (30") with buds at various stages of development, and 5 cuttings already rooted and ready to pot up, and and Unknown (48") with new buds forming (This one formed about 4 buds soon after I brought it here. Two got to about 5-6" and then something ate the entire bud inside the other just fell off... the other buds fell off as tiny things.) Surely looking forward to seeing what this Mr. Mystery is.

What is that under your Snow Cone, Glory?? The Brug is lovely!! Bonnie
Bonnie this is an old thread. Glory is no longer with us except in our hearts. She passed on.
I've learned to always look at the date posted. It was good to see this thread again. Did anyone find out about Gloria's family after Katrina?
I have a cutting labled 'Snowcone', but it blooms yellow with an orange rim so it was mis-labled. It's still pretty but I don't know what it is.
