how big are these planters? you have caladiums in full sun?? these are really too too nice!

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

tiG the planters are about 6 or 7 ft diameter...caladiums like impatiens can be grown in full sun..just keep them watered well. :-)

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

stealing these ideas, you know ;)

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Stop...theif!!!! LOL

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

okay, can I borrow them loosely??? mine would never look that good anyway:)

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

tiG I would be honored......take what Ideas you wish..... :-)

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

another beauty. So if they are in full sun, who waters them all the time? It must get pretty hot on that concrete. Or have you got some kind of watering system in the pots?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Liz..we have a crew of 6 people that water all 600 pots in the downtown area..along with my 14 planters.... :-)

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Stunning! Very nice job!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

your town is very impressive, I can tell just from what they do in this one place. They must really miss them in the winter.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8a)

Now that's a great idea! Hire someone to do the watering of the tropicals..isn't that a plan, Liz??? Elaine

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Kyle, again a very lovely planter. Then in the fall/winter, do you retrieve these plants and winter them over in your greenhouse, and put something else in here? if so, what do you put in here in the cold months?
this is soo pretty, like tig, I want to use some of your ideas.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

pebble...we take the plants out in fall(those we are gonna save) put them in a cool greenhouse for winter and plant spring bulbs in the planters for spring..nothing in these in winter...too much snow to see them in!!LOL

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Eclipse, doesn't the slightly different angle of the sun there make it easier to grow the caladiums and impatiens in the sun? My friend in Ohio grows hers in full sun too.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Calalily..they grow Impatiens and caladiums in full sun in Calif too..way south of both of us ads far as latitude. :-)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

You mean I could grow them too if I water enough? Mine always look terrible even if I water every morning.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Calalily..yu can grow impatiens and caladiums anywhere if you give them enough water.Impatiens in full shade never bloom like in full sun.I have some pics of full day sun impatiens I'll post. :-)

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

We drive by these every day to go to work and they are fabulous, more so this year. They are so uplifting to look at, before putting in eight hours of work. Kyle, your doing a great job. We come in from the south across Court Ave, and past the Civic Center. They all look wonderful. Super Job. My hubby and I both work at Mercy Hospital. Hubby is head groudskeeper for Mercy. I work on the ninth floor and when I get a chance I can look out at the Botanical Center and the Capitol and the river, it is a lovely view.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Debby....You honor my work...((Bowing))..I thought they would be something different this year. The two on the north sid eof the civic center and two at the SW doors have brugs in them.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

Debby, how fun to be able to look at the planter and say "that's my friend Kyle's work of art" isnt that something....

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Kyle, that is so pretty. Love those pink caladiums. I don't think I have seen any like that around here. Gives me inspiration to fill up a container around the pool if you don't mind if I copy you.

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

That is a great combination of colors and textures. They are very lucky to have you on that job. That is a wonderful contribution to the town.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Roz...imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.......go for it!! :-)

Milo, IA(Zone 5a)

Eclipse; Went through downtown tonight going home from work, those caladiums are gorgeous, fresh looking, mind you these are in the afternoon sun surrounded by cement and brick buildings, temp was around 90 degrees with humidity about the same. Enough to make me wilt. Not them. I will be on the lookout for the brugs to bloom. Thank you for adding so much more to the planters than petunias, petunias, and more petunias.
