Dave - you got flowers!! Next year they'll be tall. We hit lots of them with the lawn mower over & over all summer long. The buggers still bloom. Are you going to eat any?

Wahhh, Dave apparently planted his sooner than I did. I have plants, but no flowers yet. But then again, summer isn't nearly over :)

Yep, we'll try eating a few and see how they taste. These guys are doing really well! I'm going to dig them in the fall and move them a little further apart. Maybe I'll till them under to help spread them (chuckling!)

They bloom late here ..... the end of August. Ha Ha Dave!! It's nice to know my mistakes help others learn ;]

BTW vols: I planted these very early in April - maybe the 2nd or 3rd. They didn't come up until after Apr 23rd or so. In fact, I had forgotten they were they and did actually plow them up a bit on accident around mid april. Memories of poppysue's plowing incident come to mind.

I thought they were weeds and didn't understand why I couldn't pull them up. They kept snapping off at the ground level. Finally I remembered that they were helianthus and the mystery was solved. :)

That sounds like something I would do...and it's one of the reasons we have raised beds now - I'm less likely to forget where stuff is planted (I still sometiems forget WHAT I planted, but I know WHERE to expect things to come up!)
