We very occasionally use pelleted chicken manure (maybe once evey 3 years) but we don't use any fertiliser in the garden on a regular basis

I'm sure it would be but it would be nice to have chickens & a rooster. We have had them in the past. Now,our 2 dogs would go crazy.
Ahhh so you know what you're letting yourself in for then *G* Actually we enjoy our chickens too, wouldn't be without them now, they soon sorted out the dog and cats but I know how some can be more persistent than others. Poor Bo the dog, he puts up with such a lot!
Seriously, the soil is clay based so it holds nutrients well, the plant pictured wasn't grown on purpose, it appeared in the border as a seedling one day and has stayed ever since. I suppose it found somewhere it liked
