Cala's little Whiskers

This is a cutting I got from Cala this spring.I'm curious if this is one of the famous tip cuttings. It started Y'ing very early and now is only 26 in. tall and full of buds.

i still say we should pool our favorites for cala to reproduce, don't know how she does it. mine isn't blooming yet!

Just look at that Black soil - I'll bet she doesn't even need fertilizer!!

it has to be a tip cutting, Gloria said this is a tall grower before making a Y. and I can attest to that, mine is very tall and just today I think I see the Y. You can see the picture of it in the photo forum, one of the ones Azalea took the other day. It's big!

Yes, it was taken above the Y, one of the tiny tips that I cultured in the little mini greenhouses. I'm so glad they are starting to bloom. If you want a taller one next year, be sure to take a cutting from below the Y or from any shoots that come out from the ground.

Mine is getting ready to bloom some more. I haven't measured the height, but probably about three foot now. Looks really good. I really like the leaves on this one too.

really getting excited here, I have buds on Pink Beauty, Insignis Gold, 2 Solid Golds, FP, a double white yet to be identified, Whiskers, Becca Lynn, Ins. Rosea, Kyles' Pink, Dr. D, Eric's Fragrant White, 2 of Eric's seedlings!!, and some I might have missed. This next month will be wonderful for me! I'm singing real loud, Liz, open the windows, you'll hear me.

From the looks of your post, you will be in full color before long. Hope you post some pictures. Am anxious to see your brug alley when it is in bloom. Also Ins. Rosea. Well heck, all of them.

Snow, what else do you have in bloom now? I'm still waiting to have lots of color, Just blooming here and there right now with the exception of one of my Dr. Suess and Tragedy plants. Was hoping to see Grandpa Otts morning glory blooming when Tragedy was in bloom, but Grandpa is getting about as slow as I am these days.

TiG, I wondered what all that squealing was earlier, now I know it was you!! We got rain for 2 days and I'm happy. I got stuck in the Jungle house for 3 hours though and you know how I am, I had to keep busy. You won't recognize that place now!! I chopped,pulled and pruned EVERYTHING!!! That's 'pulled' as in pulled the passifloras down to start over with them twining around the rafters. I did chop molissima way back, it's ticked me off by not opening the blooms when I can see them!! And guess what I found while cleaning??? 3 ripe Whiskers Pods!!

So happy tiG you're going to have lots of blooms soon. I told ya you would catch up in no time.Shirley, right now Whiskers and Dr Suess are the only ones in bloom.I have buds on versi Alba, Dr D, EP, Logees Species,Sunray, versi Peach,Jessie Noel, c.dbl. white, suav.white, Butterfly(just found tiny buds)and a few more I can't think of right now.
Would'nt it be great if we could get them to all bloom at the same time. LOL

Snow, that would be a sight for sure. I wonder how Monika gets her alley to bloom the way she does. Looked like they were all in FULL bloom. Now, if we could all accomplish something like that, we would be happy campers.....Sounds like you will have a lot of bloom coming up though. I just wish our summer would last until about April and then spring could start over again. :-)

I've been pollinating some of them. Not too many as I'm just doing certain crosses I think might produce something special.There are some that haven't bloomed yet that I really want to cross but I'm hoping that I will have enough time for the pods to mature. Our growing season is so short up here.

hey Liz, it sounds like we both should move to tiGs for now! We must warn her we do not clean or cook though!

Snow,that looks awesome!Someday I'll have whiskers,well,a whiskers brug,something tells me I don't want real whiskers...Tig ,you are singing so loud I can hear you up here...See ,good things come to those who wait......Calla,when you take those small tip cuttings does it slow down the blooming on the mother plant?
