Love that one, it's a beauty. You have hybridized some real pretty ones too Kyle, should do something to make some money on them. I'd buy.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

That's a beauty for sure.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

That's my baby!! Just wonder how long it is going to take for her to grow up and bloom. What month did you start these in the greenhouse? I didn't get the rhizomes until late, around the first week in May, so I direct planted mine. She is so pretty Kyle.

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

Does anyoe know average heigth of PD? Just got one planted and can't wait until it blooms.

Coal Center, PA(Zone 6a)

Oh my goodness! I'm shocked and learning so much here about cannas. I had no idea there were so many different varieites. Gosh all I've ever seen up here are about a half dozen common ones, nothing so beautiful as this!! Kyle add a couple of seeds from this one to my "goodie seed bag"...lol

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Joydie..if I can find any seeds..so far hasn't had any..it may be like tropicann or Bangkok..both are sterile..no seeds.

Hamilton, Canada

Kyle,
Any seed pods yet...not that I want to bug ya, juss checkin
status of my goodie seed bag...lol.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Joydie...you betcha! it has several pods..not sure what they will be though..colorwise.. :-)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Kyle,is it the plants them selves that are sterile,or is their pollen sterile too?

Hamilton, Canada

Oh Kyle I'm so excited. I don't care what color they are but I know there will be some beauties in them there pods. I'm detailing my tropical garden beds for next year as I type...1. Place Kyle's Dianna hybrid in front of bed near sidewalk as a show stopper. 2. Place Kyle's Orange canna at the front of second tropical bed, near the sidewalk as another show stopper. 3. Underplant with various colors of coleus to create a patchwork quilt effect. 4. Move crowded peonies from back garden to front garden. 5. Don't forget to put BIG brugs in pots back in their summer homes again.

Now where should I put the new croton that I picked up for a buck on the clearance table from the market...hmmmm. LOL.

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

CC the pollen is sterile as is the plants.I tried crossing both ways and never any seeds....if any formed they aborted later on.
:-)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

So they are all sports from some other plant, huh?

is cleopatra sterile?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

Cleopatra is fertile.Mostly the striped leaved ones are the only sterile ones.

Hamilton, Canada

Ok...I see what you mean by sterile...you can't hybridize them but they will form seeds...is that it? I'm not blonde really just gray headed...lol.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

no ,they won't form viable seeds....

Hamilton, Canada

Gotcha!!
