feverfew flowers
How are you using the feverfew, Lilith?
Most people can't handle the bitterness of chewing the leaves. In fact, they actually form lesions on some people's mouths.
I make it as a tincture, which is a more palatable way of using it for most people. Plus it has an almost unlimited shelf-life.
i just put a few leaves in a sandwich with butter and sugar and hold my nose!
If that works for you, that's all that counts.
As a general rule, however, feverfew therapy is based on continuous usage, rather than allopathically. That is, rather than take it like an aspirin to get rid of a headache, you use the feverfew as a daily regimen to prevent them.
Feverfew is a specific against migraines, in particular, and, more recent studies have shown, for cluster headaches.
Thanks for all the information on this. Just bought feverfew this year and hadn't done any research on it.
Hi,
I just found out I had fever few! I bought and was given herbs from different people including horseshoes great displays of herbs. Now I need to figure out how to dry them?
Any suggestions? I have tooth ach herb, fever few, cat nip, fennel, lemon balm, bee balm, baisil and something that smells like licorice with a full leaf. Any suggestions for where to learn about drying and using the herbs?
Thanks
d
beleadona,
To dry herbs, garther them in bundles and tie together, leaving extra string. Then take a brown paper bag from the grocery. Write the name of the herb on it, and punch a hole, centered in the bottom. Run the string through the hole, and pull the herbs up into the bag. Form a loop with the string, and hang it in a warm place, but not in direct sunlight.
That all it takes. The bag helps keep light off the herbs (UV is the great herb killer), and serves as a dust jacket to keep them clean.
Belledonna, if you got the licorice-smelling plant w/the full leaf from me it is probably anise hyssop. (It could be flowering by now also.)
