(Encyclia cochleata)

Tokyo, Japan

One of the easiest tropical orchids to grow. Found in nature all the way from Florida down to South America. Will tolerate lower temperatures and humidity that most tropical orchids, but not frost.
Family: Orchidaceae
Genus: Encyclia
Species cochleata

Oh, those sweet (as in schweeeeeet!). They remind me a little of women dressed in Elizabethan clothes with the big collars. :)

Great analogy! Never thought of that before.
Flowers are like ink blot tests - different people see different things.
I've always been sort of a Dennis the Menace - so here I see spiders, octopi, and space aliens.
But those with warm and tender souls will see warm and tender things...

OK gardenwife - wait 'till my Bulbophyllum orchids bloom - that'll challenge ya!!! ;)
