I love it and if your saving any seeds please keep me in mind.

Sorry windsurffer - but orchid seed is difficult. Try your local orchid nursery - parishii is one of the more readily available dendrobiums, and you shouldn't have any problems raising it as a windowsill orchid.

Actually, I was going to divide the plant later this summer. If you'll come to Japan, I'd be more than happy to give you a division! :-)

Ok, I am new to orchids and I received some seeds for Lady Slippers in the mail and planted them and they are doing fine so far. I had no idea that it would be that different. How long do they bloom?

Lady Slippers - Cypripedium? From seeds? Wow!!!!! You've got a greener thumb than me!! ;)

Most orchid seed is microscopic, and will only germinate in symbiosis with a limited few species of bacteria, so the vast majority of professional growers use flask culture - an expensive and time consuming process. The rest of use just divide clumps, or back-bulb.

Anyway, if you shade them a bit, parishii flowers will stay in glorious fragrant bloom for several weeks. I highly recommend it windsurffer!

Thanks for letting me know and I will take a picture of the Lady Slippers to show you but I had to take them out of direct sun the tips were starting to burn. They haven't flowered yet so all I have is a green plant.

windsurffer- would love to see your pics - best of luck blooming your slippers!

tiG - thanks, I'll pass on your praise. Parishii's a vain little thing and loves compliments ;)
