Our granddaughter(oldest daughter's oldest child)is home from Korea on leave from the Army so they paid Jack's and my way to Richmond, VA for a few days vatcation. We left K.C.I. at 7 a.m. Saturday and got back there at 11 yesterday morning. Fabulous trip. We got Jack some much needed new summer shirts at a nice Big/Tall Man store, got me some clothes I needed anyway but waited till we were there to get them and lots of 'stuff' for memories. We also had a 3 generation portrait made on Monday. I brought home the meat & bone scraps(frozen until we left their house for the airport yesterday)and nearly a quart of wonderful BBQ sauce left over from the big party at their house Saturday evening. They don't let their dog or cat have table scraps so ours ate well yesterday afternoon. Sheila and the children wanted some of my home canned and dried foods they remember so well so we took one suitcase on board with us that must have weighed 40 pounds or more filled with jars and packages. Jack was hoping it would come home weighing much less. In order to fulfill his wish I had to put some 'stuff' in a small overnight bag we took for an extra as well as a large plastic shopping bag that we carried on board as it had the pottery 'stuff' in it. But it's great to be home again.
I need to start picking eggplant today. There are about 4 on the plants now and several blooms. I got some plant stakes at Lowes last night when Shad and I went in to get the tent from his scout troop master and exchange his defective air matress/cot at K-Mart.
I can't express my excitment over the flight out to Richmond. Since it was 2 short trips each way- K.C. to Atlanta, then on to Richmond and return the opposite way-the plane flew within sight of the ground most of the way. It was so interesting to be above some clouds, below others and right in the middle of some. Also to see the change in the terrain from up there. You could actually see some of the swimming pools in yards, roads, housing developments, etc. I knew when we flew over the Ozarks coming back because I could see all the water below with lots of wooded areas and small houses, towns, etc. I had a window seat both times and it was really great. Jack is a pilot and A & E mechanic so he explained all the things the parts of the wings did to help or slow down lift and climb of the plane. I found the instant of liftoff and touchdown exhilerating to say the least.
We've had about an inch or so of rain in the past week all in short hard rains. About a quarter inch yesterday just before we got home. Every drop soaks in tho and the crops are responding beautifully. I want to drive over to see the soybean and corn field that are a couple miles from where we live. I'm sure they're doing well.
Karla, JESUS really does care about your desire for small animals and knows you would give those kittens a good home. In bringing them to you HE also met their need for a good home and loving care. HE heard the cries of their lonliness, fear, and hunger and arranged their meeting with your husband. I can almost hear and see JESUS telling some angels to go down and make sure they all got together. Of course they are happy to be with you and I think some of the pleasure you see them expressing could also be expressions of JESUS's appreciation.
I should be going and getting some work done. I hate to think what the mail on our poor server's website must look like. We usually get about 50-75 pieces a day and it has been nearly a week since I've checked it.It may take me hours to sort through all of it. Of those many daily pieces I keep and read about 10 at the most. I never download our mail until I've checked thru it on the server's email service. Too much junk and risk of virus.
GOD bless and keep each and all of you.
