Becky, I wasn't expecting it to bloom either. Aimee sent it to me about a month ago. I was so surprised.

Cala, I can't think of a better person to grow this wonderful vine. And with all of the others you have, you should get fruit, since it isn't self-pollinating and requires another one nearby to produce fruit. I am so happy it is performing well for you.

All I can say is "WOW"! Thanks for sharing.

Cala, you grow so many things. Do you have an all time favorite? Your passiflora vines are just great.

Brugie, I love lots of plants but Jasmines are my favorites with Stephanotis being my mostest favorite plant of all. I remember the first time I saw one, it was at a glass house nursery(real glass houses, used to grow cut flowers) and grew up one end, to the 15ft ceiling and across the top about 50ft. When it bloomed, Bill would take me over there to see it and I'd just stand in awe. He(the owner) gave me a few cuttings off it. We had a freezing cold winter storm, the glass broke above it and he couldnt' keep it warm enough, so it died.

Oh, how sad. My stephanotis lost all its leaves this spring. Not from cold, because I didn't bring it out that early. It is now starting to put out some new growth, but I don't think I'll ever get to see this thing bloom. I just want to stick my nose in some blooms and enhale for a while. I've had mine for three summers and thought this would be the year I'd see the bloom.....yeah, right!! No such luck. Any pointers?

They normaly bloom in August. I keep mine on the dry side in the winter and cool but not freezing. I fertilize it in the spring with Osmocote and give it filtered light. It's about 10 feet long now.(maybe longer, it's wound around and around in a brug for support) Don't ever cut off the little thingies where the blooms are, that's where new ones come out, like a hoya. A couple of years ago it got too cold in the winter, I thought I'd lost it.

Thanks Cala, maybe I'm giving mine too much sun. Believe me, if I ever get the little thingies where the blooms are, I won't cut them. Still hoping to get some bloom one day.

Brugie, It's got about 10 clusters of buds!! I was so excited to see those. I can't wait till it blooms, I know it will smell great!!
