Isabella X Butterfly

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

This plant isn't very big yet, but I'm afraid that it is going to remain white. Second day for one of the blooms. If anyone planted these seeds and gets a colored bloom, I'd sure like to see it.

Brugie........... did the flowers get their shape from the Isabella?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Ah brugie, white. i am shovel pruning every seedling that is white. do you have any more seedlings getting ready to bloom? i think my next will be white pearl X big, don't think it is gonna be versi or candida looking at the calyces, and i have been feeling them, don't believe it will be a double either. hoping i am wrong........

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I hope you are wrong too Arlene. Mine still hasn't even made a Y.

Kell, I guess I don't pay attention to that. In fact, I've never seen an Isabella blooming in person, but will within the month, I think.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

My Isabellas x Butterflys haven't bloomed yet. Nor my Butterflys x ?s. There have to be tons of Eric's seedlings out there. Someone is sure to come up with THE perfect brug.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

and i would give my last eye tooth to see what the Brugman has blooming out of his seedlings!!!!!!!!!

Arlene, Did that v.Peach x Butterfly ever turn color or did it stay white?

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Snow, meant to tell you, it turned off white several shads. when the flowers die the edges are very yellow. i like the flower, gonna try to put some color on its kids. i hit it with creamsickle tuesday, will have more options later. and it has that lemony smell to it. i had a stuffed double white with an open skirt, so pretty, hit it too. had aureas in bud none with pollen!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Has anyone else experienced Dr. Suess with no pollen. I have checked open blooms, not so open, closed, and cannot find fluffy pollen. Heck, I couldn't scrape any pollen off this one if I tried. Just nothing there.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Great Arlene. At least it wasn't plain white although I do like some of the white ones too.Mine are growing slow. It probably doesn't help that the temps up here can't decide to be hot or cold.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Snow, for me it is a definite keeper. so far the blooms don't look wilted in the heat. so far, one bloom at a time but more buds. Brugie i have no idea about your pollen. it might be situational, as he is the dad of many.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Shirley, I have a few different ones that I can not get pollen from so I am using them as the mother plant.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

That is what I did Snow. Dr. Suess is now a woman and I hope she will be a good mother.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

LOL Shirley.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

"First Sex Change on Plant Successful" Congrats Shirley.

Congrats! May I say Dr. Shirley :-)

btw. the I x B hybrid looks very similar to the white hybrid I grow here. But there are one big difference. Yours got pink genes from B and would be useful in crosses for pink Brugs :-)

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Gee, thanks, Tonny and tiG. :-) I'm afraid that this plant took a trip up the road last night to a friends house. I have another one yet to bloom and will probably try some EP pollen on one of the blooms.
