interior colors for decorating

This old house( only built in 1960) is getting a new coat of paint! All baseboard and doors are going to be white, and I've picked out colors for the walls. I am totally baffled with color combinations in decorating. I grew up poor and decorating was something wealthy people did. Now I want to "decorate" this little ranch house. Does anyone know a good sight that shows what accent and contrast colors or whatever, should be used with certain colors? Any help will be appreciated by this uninformed decorator.thanks, LOU
