Common name: Hummingbird vine
busybee, do the hummers really like this vine?
Busybee - the leaves on this don't look right for the Ipomoea quamoclit. Do you think this might be Eccremocarpus?
Actually ... I don't think the leaves look like Eccremocarpus either - http://plantsdatabase.com/go/547/
Anyone else have thoughts on this one? Baa?
Yes, hummingbirds love these flowers. They will try to get into the ones that aren`t even open too. That is the only name that I have for this vine. I will take another picture of the leaves for a better identification. It dies back but comes back in the spring.
Sue, I'm the one guilty of putting this with the Ipomoea quamoclit - when I saw the common name and glanced at the thumbnails, I assumed that's what they were.
But after I saw the posts, I opened up the thumbnails, and this is definitely not the same foliage as I. quamoclit. But what about I. coccinea (also sometimes referred to as Hummingbird Vine although usually as Red Morning Glory)? Here's a link: http://www.missouriplants.com/Redalt/Ipomoea_coccinea_page.html
Is this an annual or perennial? I would really to have some for my hummers, since I discovered them, I want to have a smorgasborg available for them....lol
pebble, I am waiting on the triple yellow datura seed then I will get the other things you wanted together and send them at one time. The hummers like the yellow butterfly bushes also.

Once we have a positive ID, I'll move it to the correct entry.
Thanks, go_vols, for all of your help.
