North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Surely you plan on selling these? How many have you got in there? 300-400 hundred?

Grass Lake, MI(Zone 5a)

Cala,

I still feel like one of the luckiest people being that I was able to see that in person. It is beautiful in there. I agree with all of the above. Plus, you are trust worthy, sincere ... need I go on ?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

loving, kind, giving, funny

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

and cute too!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Gee, I'll never get my head inside that door now!! Y'all are making me blush.
TiG, I spent yesterday and today cleaning in there, you wouldn't recognize it. One half is empty!! I climbed up on the ladder and untangled those passifloras. I drug the brugs outside for a bit of fresh air(plus I found a mealybug). The TDA inspector said that it will do them good(he came by today too). I've got the passifloras spread out all over the mum area. I want to repot them into 12" baskets so they don't dry out so fast. I took lots of cuttings too.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Cala, lol, i saw you blushing when i read this post a while ago!

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

She even has "Baby Brugs" on hanging baskets!!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Cala......is it too hot for tropical parrots in there? You could have a brug breeding and parrot breeding enterprise.............. and we all would be your loyal and happy customers....... and you would ACTUALLY SEND us our orders.......... what a change that would be!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

it's unbearably humid in that place. for me it was anyway. I don't know how she works in there, but she's happy, the plants are very happy, so it's good for all!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I know I'd order from you Cala. Just got word last night that my order from that place ??? had been cancelled. Long story. I'd love working in your greenhouse. Just beautiful and everything is always so healthy. You've got that Tenn. green thumb for sure.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

we would all order from you Susie, once again, I say go for it!!!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I've really been thinking about having a Tropical Nursery, and ship plants. (Honestly though, I'm the most scatter brained person on earth) I've been practicing rooting all kinds of vines and things.
TiG, DH and Steve installed a big fan in one end, you wouldn't believe the difference that made in the temps in there!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

do the brugs like the fan?? that's what counts!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

TiG, they all did except for one, it sort of went chop chop, lol. Guess it will learn to keep it's branches out of the fan blades.
I was in there today rearranging and was just trimmimg away and this little green frog jumped on me, I screamed and didn't know what had me. It was stuck to my shirt and looking up at me like I was crazy!!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Sooo - is that what you're going to call it?? Tropical Nursery? We're all just patiently waiting - we know you're going to do this eventually. It's just a matter of time right? Gosh knows the plant inspection people know you ( and your brugs)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Liz, ain't that the truth!! I think I've met every single person from that office now!!
I was thinking of calling it "Cala's Jungle House"

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

A business of her own might interfere with her world travels!! LOl!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

That's right Azalea, unless I made so much money and hired a green house manager!!! Then RR and I would be traveling the country all the time!!

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

It really wouldn't be that hard to do!! All you need is a sort of Catalog with Pics, sort of like my album and a price list!! I know I could help you sell them, just take orders. Seriously, send out a few pages with pics & names to various nurseries. Allow 6 weeks for delivery, Lol - this would give you time to get them going!!

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh, move down here, and hire me!!!! you'd have a longer growing season!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

ahh - the birth of a brug business - can I say I knew you when???

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Woweeee Cala! And I thought my little GH was packed full.LOL.I'm sure you would have lots of customers if you opened a business.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

"(Honestly though, I'm the most scatter brained person on earth)"

You make me laugh Cala.......... look at your competition! I have ordered from the 4 main places that sell brugs............ the top place not only never filled my order but dissed me in the process. The next 2 (I admit I ordered very late in the season and you guys seem to love them), the brugs were twigs and 1/2 dead and had to go into intensive care for 2 weeks before I even dared transplant them, and the last...Logees were more expensive but the plants were green, healthy and huge with great roots, ready to go into the ground immediately. What a novel idea ... healthy plants sold! Oh I forgot, I ordered 1 from eBay and it came with free mealy bugs but was green which was a great improvement but was tiny.

The cuttings I got from you, Brugie, tiG and Glory were so much better even though they came without much dirt or just as cuttings.
It just goes to show you, you do not always get what you pay for and sometimes you get what you didn't!
SO GO FOR IT CALA!!!

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

~~~when you had brugs hanging from the roof???
Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)
Liz, yes, I put the smaller 6" pots in hanging baskets to give them a bit more sun. This past winter, I must have had 50 brugs hanging in baskets above all the other things. I have to be careful doing that in the heat of the summer because the top area of the Jungle House is unbelievably hot!! The fan seems to help a lot though.
I was moving the big plants out yesterday(I want to rearrange and the floor needed swept)and hit the wiring for the fan(DH and Steve believe in function more than looks) and when a branch hung the wiring it pulled loose. I didn't want to get electrocuted, so I decided to untangle the passifloras.
Hamilton, Canada
Cala,
You must certainly consider starting a brug business. You can hire your daughter to do the paper work and mailing perhaps. As for orders....why I'll bet you would give certain other nurseries a run for their money in no time.
Just do enough to have pleasure, but not to take the enjoyment out of what you are currently doing.
Toadsuck, TX(Zone 7a)
Tropics N Tennessee...........proprietor, Susie French!!
"eyes"
Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)
Go for it Cala! You and DH and DD work too hard not to do it. I really believe it is more than a green thumb - more like a tired tail at the end of the day. You will do really well cause even the stuff you GIVE away is healthier and better growing than stuff we buy from others.
Your greenhouse looks great!
Florence, AL(Zone 7a)
While I like the name 'Cala's Jungle House', you could always call it "Wally's World" and let your dog be on the masthead. (*grin*) Whatever you call it, be sure to put my name at the top of your mailing list when the catalogue comes out. Wish you lived closer---I'd love to spend my days puttering around in that jungle house, doing cuttings, etc! Heck, I'd proably work for free (or certainly for what I could walk out the door with!).
High Desert, CA(Zone 8a)
Cala, with the great increasing members subscribing to DG forum. i believe u got all the customer here that u'll ever need. u'll have enough customers to order from u. i'd order from u, pls include me in ur list. another plus to the increasing member population, am sure word by mouth recommendation will do it for u. seeing ur nursery in pics, i never realized it was that big. Go for it Cala! the sooner the better ;)!
