Where is everybody??

Finishing all the things you started when daves went down for the weekend???

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

Guess we just haven't gotten back into the swing of things.

Just lurking and reading. Love it!

I go around spraying Brug leaves lol We have pulled weeds all day long and just before dark I tried a trick, that I learned from Ludger ... to spray the leaves with a subtle, Nitrogene water solution lol I started the other day, but didn`t get the sangs sprayed and I hope to see some of the lighter leaves starting to green up again lol and the yellow too? culebra is really starting to grow now. In the last 14 days it has almost doyubled its size. It has got 5 inch leaves and I start to see something, that MAYBE is an Y :-)

I've been stripping leaves, feeding with buckets of MG, weeding, moving things around that are in pots, wishing for more big pots, sweating (93% humidity at 7am this morning) and just looking around. wondering which pink i have that is really blooming, I've got to check the database and see if I can be more specific.

Tonny,
How much water to how much Nitrogen? How often do you use this?

Norwalk, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm still dying of the heat and humidity here..100F and Brazilian humidity today...**WHEW**! LOL

Kyle,
You need to do like we did today....Roz and Marie came by and we were running around in the yard while it was raining at least it was cooler for a while.

I had a ball today - planted about 6 more brugs in the ground. Now I think I have 15 in the bed. I dug up a large white wisteria and some Rose of Sharons I didn't know what to do with & gave them away, just to make more room!! Only 2 of them have buds but I think I saw a couple of y's too. Then I dug around each one and added more water crystals and Osmacote & watered with Wally World's version of MG called Sam's Choice, (same numbers. Chopped down the spent holly hocks too. I think I will sleep good tonight!

My Granddaughter and I watered the potted plants, took Grandpa to the eye doctor, went to the pool for an hour and a half and then she helped me make supper. This little gal will go home pretty self sufficient other than the $$. Maya turned peachy today. I like this one. Sure glad Daves is back up and running. Was wearing out the carpet coming in and out checking.

Yup, definitely had withdrawl symptoms while Dave's was down! Picked up my largest brug (the yellow one) after the wind blew it over-- luckily no damage. I bought it as a baby in a gallon pot on May 21st this year, it had it first bloom on June 15th then had 2 more a bit later. It now has 10 or 12 buds of various sizes. I have 2 tiny buds on the pink that was started when I bought the first one in May. I think the breeder must cut just below the y and pot it up cause it's really short. It seems to have been windy here ever since I got my first brug in May. Can't say if it is usual or not 'cause before this season I spent all my days in an office but I guess I'd better stay away from the variety that doesn't like wind. :-(
I find it interesting to note the different temperatures others are growing brugs in. We have very moderate temps for the most part, usually cool evenings. (similar to England I believe) Last frost free day is usually around May 24th at the latest and we can get a tomato killing frost in late September but then no more frosts often til the end of October. It will be interesting to see how my brugs winter over. DH says no way the truck is staying out of the insulated garage in the weather for brugs to live indoors so I guess I'll have to cut them back and hope they survive the unheated greenhouse. I enjoy all your posts and have gained a lot of good information. I'm now telling people that have been growing brugs for a few years things they never knew ie - y's and and buds and to watch for unsymmetrical leaves to find buds. One of the growers is German so I hope I can get her to get Monika's book and translate for me. I have the other "bible" thanks to Jeanne for showing it to me. My brugs are in full sun, one shows signs of sunburn, the Multi Hybrid White, but full sun on the wet coast is pretty rare so I think they need all the sun they can get.
Well enough rambling.

Sounds like you all are being very productive! I really feel for those of you that live in ovens. Right now it is 66 degrees and 56% humidity. During hte day it is usually in the 70s and goes to the 50s overnight. Eat your heart out.......LOL!

Anyway.....tiG wha tis MG?

Glory, have you tried miracle grow as a foliar feed? I just use miracle grow in their foliar feeding sprayer every few weeks and everything seems to love it. It perks everything right up. My flowers take off again. Esp. at the end of the season when my soil in my pots has been drained of all that is good! And I am now using alot of osmocote , taking Cala's advice in additon to the miracle grow.

I am so far behind everyone here, I am still doing my spring planting. I do not know where all the time has gone!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Kell, MG is miracle grow. i'm still spring planting too. with all the brugs i have gotten rid of in the last few weeks i did a count yesterday, 51 in the ground and 102 in pots, not including the ones i have rooting. here i florida i have to use osmoscote.....otherwise i'd be spending hours feeding other day. bought the florida formula, supposed to last 10 months at 90 degrees, but i started out with cheap kinds and got behind on fertilizing quite a few of my brugs.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

I have Osmocote in almost all of my brugs, but am trying to go through a two week 'experiment' where I feed every other day and see what happens. trying to jump start them. I've been putting in the sprayer when I use neem's oil too. If my yard busts out in blooms, it's going to be quite a show and I am trying to get there before September!

Glory, I use one teaspoon 8% Ammonium (NH-3) per 10 litres water and douch it on the leaves. Later I will also try a common N-P-K-fertilizer, solute in water and douce on the leaves. Leaves, especially younger ones, are quick to uptake nutrition through their leaves. In Danish gardening it is a thumb rule, that if the plant will eat it with the roots, the leaves will also eat lol However, leaf fertilizing are only a supplement to root fertilizing. If we say that the roots will uptake 100 %, the laeves will only uptake to 33%.

Tonny,
Thanks.

Kelley,
Yes, I do a lot of leaf feeding....some things are so thick that's the only way they get fed. :0)

Gee Arlene............another of my duh moments ......................

So it wasn't just ME!I was having withdrawl symtoms.....What happened??

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

CC, Dave posted some information on his forum. I don't remember what I read half the time and don't understand what I read the other half, so I better not try to explain it at all. :-)
