another passiflora question.

Perrysburg, OH(Zone 5a)

I went outside to water my p. incense this morning and found that the top foot and a half was bent over broken, I cut if off and put it in water will it root this way, or do I need to do something special to it???
Thanks,

I have never been able to root Incense by any means. But it can't hurt to try, and let us know if it works. Some people have said they did succeed with Incense. If it doesn't root, you still have the parent plant, though, and it's such a stunner in the way it covers so much area so fast.

Hi Perrysburg, Ohio.

I root Incense in Perlite, jar, 1/2" water, root hormone powder, plastic bag over, lot of light, roots in 3 to 3-1/2 weeks. Hope this helps, good luck.

Okay, the piece I have is about 18in long, can I cut this up into smaller pieces and root them all?? What would you suggest?? Btw "Lima" :) does yours winter over down there, or do you bring it in?? I think we might have talked about this before...

I always cut right below a leaf for bottom, take all the leaves off, leaving only small leaves and no tendrils for top. You could probably cut the 18" piece into two pieces.

No, they don't overwinter outside, as I have the reds and purples that are tropical. I keep them growing inside, have lots of light and windows, so keep them growing as much as possible. Starting them in fall and spring with all the new growth. The first year, I cut them back to about 6", never saw them again, so now I keep them growing. Have about 10 different kind.
