Siam Tulip (Curcuma alismatifolia)

I just got this plant what do I do with it ? when do I water it ? where should I put it? inside or outside? I am new to planting. Miesha

I guess no one wants too help me? so what good does this site do me? thank you for nothing!

I'm sure someone will see your post. It may take awhile. I can't answer those questions as these plants belong to a neighbor. I do know she had them planted outside. They are really nice plants & sure U will like them. I water my plants when ever the soil feels dry & try not to let them wilt. Here in Hot Florida that is pretty often.. every day for pots if it doesn't rain. Sorry I can't be of more help but sure someone will..

Thank you for your help at least you are trying. I guess no one knows about them or they don't want to help a new commer. In san diego it is not that hot. In all the other site I am in you get a answer wright away that why I said what I said. This must be a small site. sorry if I offended any one.

Diamond13... According to what I have learned about this plant , each stalk blooms once. The flowers do not last very long and once the blooms fade you are supposed to cut them back along the stalk as far back as possible without cutting the leaf brackets. It produces lots of new plants that will each bloom one or two flowers. It will die back in winter but comes up each spring. Water well when dry and let dry between waterings. Mulch well in colder climates. Keep planting, kiddo, you can only get better. Never give up your spade.

I just purchased a plant at a discount food store with only the name Cucurma. I've been looking on google and found Curcuma. First I thought it might be a bromelia variety. But after doing more research I looked up ginger and found the Curcuma alismatifolia. My plant has a flowering stem that is topped by a cluster of lt. purple bracts. I just bought the plant 2 days ago and I'm wondering do I have to put it outdoors or can I leave it indoors this fall. We are in Northern Calif. I believe our zone is either 9 or 11. Temp. right now are about 60-70 degrees in daytime and down to around 45-50 in the early morning right now. Usually in winter our temp. are maybe down to 25-40 degrees. Do u notice snow fall also? If yes than i suggest that in winters u can get your plant in the GH . But the plant will only bloom if it is in full sun and pl see to it that the soil is always kept moist. LMK if u need further help.
