I have always loved bougies ever since I lived in San Diego...they cover the roofs of the houses there..I'll post a pic of one.. :-)

Cala,
Is this one of your plants? Does it have a name....I agree with Kyle they are very pretty.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It's mine, we bought it on the way back from the Fla plant swap. It's got a name, I'll have to climb the ladder again and look, lol. There is a nursery about 100 miles from here that has several greenhouses full of these in the spring. It's like walking into paradise to go in there.
Eclipse, I loved them in Mexico too, they would be on the balconies and drape to the ground. The nursery that we went to at the round up had one planted in the ground in the green house. Azalea wanted to get a photo, but couldnt' get us all together around it. It must have had a million blooms.

Cala that is a lovely bougainvilia. a few years ago, i visit a friend in Oklahoma, in one of the local nursery we visited, i saw a variegated bougie. leaves were nice but i do not remember seeing a bloom. have u seen a variegated bougie?

MaVie, the greenhouse I was talking about has a couple of different ones, I think Raspberry Ice and Peach? Ice. I love Raspberry Ice, it's a fuchsia pink color and is so bright.

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

I have one MaVie. The bloom on it is a dark pink. It seems to be a really slow grower and had only a few blooms.

Cleveland, OH(Zone 5b)

I bought a Raspberry Ice, it was in a 12" hanging basket and was completely covered in blooms. A few days after I brought it home, it dropped every single blossom!!!!
I think I may have had it in a draft. So now that it's been so hot, I put it on my deck. It has gotten much new growth (leaves).
Any suggestions on how to get it to bloom again?

Thanx,
Cecelia

Thanks Cala & Busybee :)! in the Phils. bougie afficiados has them in all colors except black. bougainvilia is a big fad among local folks back there. someone long time ago sent me cuttings of Rashberry Ice during the winter month. unfortunately it never made it :(.

Could these be overwintered indoors? I saw some that were reduced because they had finished blooming. My oldest daughter's birthday is coming up this month and she loves flowers in her apartment.

P.S.
I forgot to mention the tag on the hanging basket said "Valley Grow"-aren't they an American nursery?

Jodie1 ,I overwintered 2 of them in the house this past winter. One even bloomed!

Hard for me to believe that's the same one you got in Feb. when I got mine - not a single bloom on any of the 3 I bought. I think I kept them too long in those litle pots -they have put on a lot of new "leaves" since they are in bigger pots now.

Azalea, I moved it up to a bigger pot and it took it a while to bloom again. I also gave it some osmocote and it's hanging in full sun in the top of the Jungle House.

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I put some of them in the pots with my Hibiscus trees in full sun on the patio. I also made a basket with some. You know there were 2 in each of those little 4" pots.

I didn't notice that!! I'll not mess with it now though since its blooming so well.

CC,
Thanks. I think one hanging basket had 2 colors of bouganvilla in it-both red and white plants. The other hanging baskets just had single color plants ie white or red in them...in addition there are at least 3 plants in each basket so I hope they are a bargain...How much did you pay for a single plant? What size pot was it in?

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

Cala, Azalea, I bought Raspberry Ice on that trip. My plant is doing wonderfully, it's in a big hanging basket that is sitting in the base of an ice cream parlor chair. It's very big, but won't bloom. I read not to feed or overwater. Maybe I should feed it again just a bit?

This is really unusual and pretty bougie. Never saw a peach colored one before. Looks great.

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Jodie,I don't remember what I paid,the rasberry ice I bought on e-bay,the other came from a trade.

Oh Roz....I don't have a Peach Bouganvilla....remember that next time you take a trip to Beatline Nursery on 25% off day and I'll pay you for it. Thank You!!!!

CC, thanks..I'll see what I can negoiate with the owners...I buy all my potting soil from them and they're pretty good about giving me discounts. I'm sure Natalie will love the bouganvilla.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Pretty.. I have 6 of them lol.. all are in the pots and hanging pot..

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Glory, I will for sure look for us a peach bougie. Also, if I can find one, you want a raspberry one, too?

Roz,
You are the best!!!!
I'm not sure if I have the Raspberry one or not. I have looked on three different sites and each one of them shows a different one. Could some one post a picture of the true Raspberry Ice?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Great color Cala. Will they survive your outside winter temps or do you have to keep them potted?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Brugie, no they usually don't survive, but are pretty easy to keep in the greenhouse.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

That's good, I'd hate to lose that one if I were you.
