Sir Robert

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

Does anyone have a picture of this one? I ran a google search and got everything but brugs.

Sir Robert is a Vicki Harding hybrid named after her father. I wrote and asked, what this hybrid look like, but it was impossible to say as she have never seen it herself. Sir Robert hybrids (could be several) come out of a packet of hybrid seeds and Sir Robert was the name of the packet, but not any Brug in particular.

Liz, if you have Sir Robert, then we are two lol I got one from Brugcrazy and I think, that when both flower it could be fun to compare to see, if they are different lol

Guess who else has one me and Weeds.

I received the seeds from Vicki long ago. Mine has never bloomed either and I have had it now for 4 years. I threw it on the compost last fall only to go back and repot it a few days later. There must be something magic about this Brug because never have I kept one that long with out it never blooming. LOL

So we can trace it back to you Glory? I have no idea where mine came from. So nobody has seen it bloom? And even if it does they all will be different? I don't think I've heard of this before - naming a package of hybrids. Is this still going on - no wonder we get confused (me anyway)

Liz,
I think they will all be the same since the cuttings I sent out was from one plant. Has yours Y'ed yet? Mine got about 8ft tall last year and never y'ed that's why I trashed it. I ended up cutting off a top piece to root and trashed the rest but still no blooms.

Glory........
that is because at his home, Sir Robert learned at an early age to grow large and strong making mouth drooling promises of heavenly blooms that are to come and then to do NOTHING!!!!

So at least all the ones that originated from you will be the same. That's good. I'll have to check if it's Y'd, someone emailed me about it from another site after seeing it on my list. I realized that I knew nothing about it.
Another one to look forward to.

Liz,
I hope one of us will get a flower.

Kelley,
You got that right...so for Mr. Roberts is....I'll leave that alone. LOL

Liz, you got the Sir Robert from me and I got it from J.L. Brock. Did she get it from you Gloria? Mine hasn't flowered yet either but it seems really healthy. Guess we'll wait and see.

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

I got mine from Glory, it's taller than me, thick stem, no blooms.

North Vancouver, BC(Zone 8b)

I can't believe not one of us has seen a bloom.

I think it's supposed to be white and maybe not a great bloomer. I read somewhere that Vicki H. wasn't thrilled by it. But I wonder why she named it after her Dad.

Yes, I believe I did send it to Jackie....long time ago.

So all of us unknowingly have received our Sir Robert from Gloria? Why does that not surprise me? A truly generous person.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Well Liz, I do not think she is all that generous for I never got one!

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

OK, here's maybe some good news. Mr Robert has a "Y", a teeny one that just started. I have to admit, this plant is big with a thick trunk but the leaves are too far apart to suit me.I think the plant itself is ugly. I may let it bloom and not bring it in this winter.

Panhandle, FL(Zone 8a)

Mine has no blooms either but is growing. It is the one I stepped on but recovered nicely so at least it is a healthy one.

Cala,
That's how mine looked the first time I trashed it....this time it's not as tall but I agree once it blooms out it's going unless it's something real special. LOL

Cala, is it like suaveolens or closer to aurea (this is the only ones I can imagine get that thick trunks lol) ???

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Thicker than the suaveolens, I don't have an aurea(I don't think I do anyway). It's straight and tall, the leaves are very far apart.
