Can I throw this away ??

Jesteburg-Wiedenhof, Germany(Zone 8a)

After a tremendous downpour, this (the only) branch broke off from my Brug.

Can I just throw it away?, can I plop it into the ground again?, or can I just hope that the brug grows without this branch?....... what to do, what to do??

Thank you in advance

Wintermoor, take the bottom leaves off and stick it in water till you see white nubbies on the stem and then pot it up or just put it into a pot and root it in potting mix. It will grow you a new plant.

YIPPEEEAYEEE!!!

Thanx Snowhermit, that has just made my day.
I was so depressed when I came back home and the branch was just lying there next to its Mammy.

It's in water now

Thank you

Your welcome. Don't throw Mammy away either. She'll probaby grow some new shoots for you.

Mammy is looking quite strong, and healthy. She is 55cm (22")tall now, and has leaves up to 37 x 22 cm (14.5 x 8.5"), but if this means I have now two Brugs, then I'm in trouble since I don't have any room........what am I saying, we always find room, don't we??

Many thanks

I have done that with 100% success so far this summer. I just make sure to sit them in the shade outside, first in water and then in potting soil. Can transfer to partial sun after the roots get established then.

Thank you for that tip too oblambert. There doesn't seem to be much sun here anyway at the mo., so partial shade is everywhere ;-)
Nothing but rain for the last 3 days....... it's a wee bit depressing.

Thanks again

Just send us the rain, let us be depressed! It has been in 90's for 2 weeks now, no rain in sight, this is getting depressing. Supposed to get to 97 today, but only 94 so far.

I don't like roasting weather either (I'm Scottish), and I need a wee bit of rain, even if it's a wee bit every day, that's alright, but the downpour today has just about destroyed everything which doesn't stand completely upright.
The Roses are ok, the Astilbe, the Phlox, the Dahlias..... but everything else is just crawling around in the dirt now ;-)

I don't have the problems that some of you people in the U.S.of A. have, but nevertheless........

Ho hum

Happy gardening
