I have a silver green dwarf castor bean..it only gets about 2 feet tall and has good sized leaves...comes true from seed each year..kind of a curiosity in the garden.:-)

busybee,
Are these invasive in your area?

Weeds, I have to plant them every year. I save seed and let the plant die in the winter.

Kyle, These are about 5 & 6 ft. now the green with red stems got to 15ft. last year. They are too tall to plant in the yard so I put them next to the green house. The dwarf would be nice in the yard.

Busybee: I have the green with red stem and love them, too. Mine get to be at least 15 ft. tall, not sure about this year they are still growing. The reds here only get to be around 6 ft. tall. Do you know the name of the red stemmed one. I've never came across the name for it.

P.S. I had the red castor bean reseed itself this year.

No I don`t have a name but I know there is a bronze also.

Busybee: I planted the bronze last year and wasn't too impressed with it. It gets about as tall as the red stemmed, but I like the red stem better. I saved seeds from the bronze, but didn't get them planted this year. I planted a dwarf Purple Castor Bean this year, the leaves stay dark purplish. It gets to only 2 1/2 ft. tall. I think it will be in my gardens from now on.

Debby, I would like to have some of the seed for the dwarf purple. I will send postage or be glad to trade.

Busybee: hopefully they will set seed this fall. I am sure we can work out a trade or sase then. I will have to post a picture of them.

No Problem, I have your name down for some seed.
