First Butterfly bloom

I guess this is another one of my most favorite...it is a real beauty...even HD noticed it.

very nice pic. i can't believe how much i like it. hope you have better luck with pollen than me, i had to destroy flowers to get pollen and then it didn't take, and i decided to enjoy the flowers, try again later. it seems to be a great bloomer, and mine Yed, then Yed again on both stalks at the very next joint, did yours? blooms from top to bottom.

Glory, that one is a real beauty. I think one of the prettiest I have seen.

Very, very nice. I just love it.

It sure is prettier, than L`Amour and any aurea I have seen so far. I am crazy with the other aurea I mention, but Butterfly is something special with its long whiskers and yellow inner tube lol

Arlene, keep on trying. Not all of them take the first time. Half my crosses dropped off, the rest is growing larger. The lost ones can be made over again (I hope. It depends, if there come more flowers). lol

Arlene,
I'm going to use tweezers to get the pollen....I'll let you know how it works.

Roz,
Do you have one of these yet?

Jeanne,
Me too....even though it's white with pink trim it looks a lot different then the Frosty Pink....guess it's the long whiskers.

Gloria, this is a very pretty brug. I'm glad to see a real picture of one. I think those on the retail sites are enhanced. I really like it and have to thank Arlene for sending me my baby. Can't wait to see it bloom in my yard. Did anyone see the picture on the right side of the Brugmansia Versicolor? Is it a versicolor? I haven't enlarged it yet, but it doesn't appear to be hanging straight down like my versicolors do.

Tonny, so i should quit coveting lamour?? i'm wondering if lamour is as hardy and blooms as much as BF. last year i didn't understand brugman's fasciations with aureas, i sure do now!!! you know, even the critters have only made i think 3 seed pods for me so far. i will be trying again!!! BF had nice fluffy pollen.
Glory, i just had ordinary tweezers, it's pretty deep in there to get them. i always forget to look for a tool to do this when shopping.

OOOHHHH that is a must have! it is absolutely gorgeous!!!
congrats...

Arlene,
Try using a hemostat.

I bought mine at the Flea Market in San Diego....it's about 9" long. If you know someone in the medical field that's even better.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

lol arlene....your secret is safe. Now, I've heard of people smoking brugs too....any connection???
I'll tell you, when you get older and smarter I guess, you shudder at the things you did when you were young. I wouldnt try to smoke a brug leaf if my life depended on it..and just hope to God that my kids never take an interest to do any reaserch on the subject, they're liable to start stripping the leaves......(egads!!!)

Glory, It's beautiful. My baby I got from Arlene is getting spoiled rotten. Hoping it will bloom this year especially now that I've seen what it will look like.

Arlene, no continue to coveting lamour lol It is hardy here. Some of my suaveolens hybrids looks like s... because of the wind. It causes nutrition deficiency, primarly Calcium ... hard, cribbled, fragile topleaves and tipburns, BUT none of the aurea is affected lol They just grow with immense strenght and when one branch stop putting out flowers another start to. So go for any aurea you can lol L`Amour is beautiful. I have never seen Rothkirch in bloom, so to now, ŽButterfly is the prettiest aurea in my opinion lol

Lima, OH(Zone 5a)

That is one I got from LBJ last year, it had better bloom for me this year, or into the compost heap it goes! ONLY KIDDING, love it.

(Zone 6a)

Beautiful pic Gloria. Would love to have a tip cutting of it this fall if possible:)

Owen

Owen,
As big as this thing is getting I think maybe I'll have enough cuttings for everone. :)

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

It's a beauty Glory, can't wait for mine to bloom.

Kentwood, LA(Zone 8b)

It is the prettiest one I have seen so far. I hope it does make lots of cuttings. My knees are getting sore from begging. This place called Dave`s is killing me. LOL
Very nice flower Glory.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Glory, is this a darker pink than Ecuador Pink? I am in desperate want of dark pinks!!! I have nice starts of Isabelle and EP. How does your beautiful one compare as to color and size to Isabelle and Ecuador Pink? I know the shapes are very different.
This one looks darker to me from the picture.

Also what is the best one for a huge true yellow brug?
thanks

Kelley,
In my yard this one is darker then E.Pink but it's not pink all the way up the corolla like E.Pink.

What color yellow are you looks for....they range from light yellow to gold.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Glory, a bright dark yellow but not gold. a true yellow. Not a pastel. And which true yellow has the biggest bloom size. And which true yellow is the most floriferous?
I do not want that much in a plant.........LOL

Kelley,
Better get to work on hybridizing. LOL

FSH, TX

Butterfly is definitly one of my favorites as well. I think I will try crossing Butterfly to a nice yellow aurea hybrid with a velvety stem and calyx next. I just tend to like crossing pinks to yellows...

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Gloria . . That is so beautiful.
