I know its not the in-i must get category but i do like them but at the moment my bushes of Lavatera are just like gray sticks in the air, no budding etc, i pruned them a while ago so are they dead? Even the cuttings of last year look dead. When i cut them they were white inside.

Sheila I love Lavatera and grew a few bushes back home. I used to prune them back quite hard after they had flowered. Did you prune them this Spring and with really cold temps? It could be that the cold has slowed them up or that new growth has been affected by frost. Don't assume they are dead, give them a while longer to see if they put out new leaves.
