Well, it was up early and off to St. Louis today. My middle daughter and her hubby have bought a new (to them)home. The lady they bought it from had used a round stock tank as a swimming pool for her kids. My daughter and son-in-law didn't want it and they really wanted it out of the way. Now they have very little patience to wait on someone and we had to get the fuel pump in the truck fixed before we could go get it. so as soon as we got that pump fixed it was off to the city. I had asked my daughter for measurements and she said it was 8 feet across. Now estimating may seem fine if you aren't the one loading it , but if you are planning on tying it down and hauling it halfway across the State then one foot one way or the other makes a big difference. It ended up being 7 foot across. We could have fit it better on a smaller trailer. Instead we tied it on top of the truck's camper shell. Which has a rack on top of that (which we have altered slightly for canoes) anyway Hubby took great pains to tie it down. It was noisy going home and we got lots of looks. But have a pretty nice free stock tank setting in the yard.
Looking around my daughter's yard for the first time I was excited to see lots of iris growing in one corner. I asked my daughter if she knew what colors they were? She said, "Oh, are those iris?" and to ask her hubby. He said he was going to mow them down. HUH? mow them down.? There I was, bad back and no shovel either. Hubby and best buddy (who was also there)found a shovel, dug them all, removed clods of dirt, and boxed them up. So rescued iris setting in boxes in the yard. Guess I'll know what I'll being doing for part of my day tomorrow. It will be fun seeing what colors they turn out to be. I love the anticipation. Even if I already have the color it will give me lots to trade next year.
My family and friends have tried numerous ideas they think will keep me quiet. Reading is one of them. Youngest daughter gave me a novel to read. eyuk... couldn't get into it. Oldest daughter's friend gave me a book called Dirt. Now there's a book I could read. Read half of it on the way home.
Glad to be home this evening. On the way home I could sure see how cloudy the atmosphere is. I think we are suppose to have some smoke from the fires out West. Even the sunsets are suppose to look different to us.
ok, need to hit the hay here. Everyone take Care
