This is my little piece of heaven on Earth. The lily that is blooming is Panama Pacific Tropical Lily. As soon as I get all the info together I'll put it in the Plant Database. So...what do you think? "T" :)
My Pond
Lovely pond! I can hardly wait till mine are pretty. Right now we are in the digging stage on one, the weed control stage on the one that was here when we moved in and the moving the last of the dirt stage on the one we dug this spring. WHEW when I write it down that is a LOT of work! You must get great pleasure from being near your pond and the nice plants you have around it. Does your waterfall make much noise? I want a really noisy waterfall on the pond we are digging so it will hopefully drown out the train when it goes by in the night. That pond is right by the bedroom. Anyway you have a very nice looking pond.
I think it is very beautiful.
Thank you!! There's a small waterfall to the left and and yes, it makes alot of noise. My DH especially likes that part. I've read that to make a waterfall noisy you'd need an "echo chamber". Now if I understood that correctly that means a pocket behind the waterfalls for the noise to "echo" through. Sound right? It also gives my fish somewhere to go in the heat of the day. Happy Ponding!! "T" :)
Very very nice.
Being I have no desire to have one of my own,I will enjoy looking at yours. Easier up keep that way for me......hehe
(you do all the work, and I will just sit back and enjoy)
Very pretty. And looks very clear! Come to my house and help me!!!!
It's gorgeous!!!!They are like heaven...I go to mine a dozen times a day to make sure all is okay and at nite I just sit on my patio and let the sound of the water take me away and relax me...
Mings, Can I help? T
Very nice pond. Is this your only one?
I've got another one much smaller that I use as a "half-way house" for new plants and new fish. I also use it to keep little floating plants in such as duckweed. If I'd put all of it into the larger pond with the koi they'd eat it all. This way it's sort of like a treat for them. "T" :)
I know what you mean about the duckweed. I have azola. Had a pond full of it. 1080 gallon pond full. Just noticed this week, it is all gone. Have some started in a bucket. Dang if those fish are greedy. LOL. I also have a pond that I use for my new tropicals and such. I call it my nursery. No fish in there to distrub things. Good luck with your pond.
Looks like "quite a bit" of paradise to me.
oh! sledder can I put my toes in it? swish, swish.aahhh!
It's beautiful and I love all your flowers!
Wowy,Gazowy Sledder, You did a great job, It's beautifull!!!
Sure tink,,come on over. But mind you,,my fish like to nibble on your toes. They are so tame they eat from your hand. They'll even come up out of the water to feed. Thanks for all the compliments folks. My DH gets alot of the credit for it. He did all the digging and landscaping around it. "T" :)
Hey Sledder, just saw your pond. How lovely! Can you tell me what size it is and if it's a pre-form? Mine should go in soon (my first).
g'morning viola...It's a preform that I got from Home Depot 3 years ago 225 gallon.
Hi Sledder,
I just saw your pond too!! How wonderful, beautiful, cool :)
May i ask where you acquired your koi?? we just finished making our pond a lot larger & deeper. Now it is filled up and we are ready to landscape around the outer edges and plant some small trees and shrubs and i would love to have some koi in the pond. A few yrs. ago i wrote down the addy that was stamped on the side of a wooden box that was being transported to a nursery( inside the box were koi), but i can't find it now :(
I get all my fish at a local fish store. They get fish in, keep them "quaranteened" for at least 2 weeks before they put them up for sale. Their explaination is that they want to make sure the fish are okay before they sell them. I have never ever ever been disappointed in their fish. AngelSong moved her fish with her back and forth from school and they were fine.
Find yourself a reputable fish store. You may pay alittle more but it's worth it in the end. If you're putting in fish for the first time in a new pond do not......under any circumstances......put in koi first. Start out with simple goldfish. I'd hate for you to purchase expensive koi and loose them 3 days later due to water quality problems. Your reputable fish store should be happy to test your water for you at no or little charge.
Also, be careful what trees or bushes/shrubs you plant near your pond. Certain trees are actually harmful such as pines. I've read that the needles are actually toxic.
Thanks Sledder! Sounds like just the one I just bought--now if I can just get help to put it in! Can't wait! If ya have any other tips, I'll be listenin!
Thank you so very much for the info Sledder :) Seems i will have to do a little dectective work here!
Love ALL YOUR GREEN THINGS Everything is so well balanced and beautiful. Ponditis you will need a very large waterfall to drown out a train. LOL
not so large as one with plenty of hollow areas behind the water so the echos are good. The train track is about 300 feet behind the house. We will also plant trees out there to soften the noise of the train. I wish I could put a mountain out there too. LOL The ultimate landscaping trick.
Nice pond, SLEDDER. Does a person need a fishing license to go fishing in your pond? LOL
Watch out for them their gators.....LOL (joke behind that folks)
No license needed....But the neighbors were there!!
**giggle**
When mine dills in it wants to look as good as that!
