What is going on???

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

I'm getting these virus infected emails (Norton deletes the attachment) right and left. If anyone gets one from me, please let me know right away. I do not open attachments at all anymore. It just isn't safe to do. Am wondering if it would be safer to send all mail to you when needing to talk to DG people, through DG. I just got two more. That makes about 6 so far today and I don't know any of the senders.

I don't know if this will help or not, but please send my mail to brugie_1@hotmail.com

Thanks

I stressed over and over that I am sending out mail with 'from tiG' in the subject line. joydie, if you think putting my name here twice is hurting me, it isn't. I don't have a virus and of that I am 100% positive. You aren't in my address book and wouldn't be. just block my address, it isn't coming from me. and you think Dave is infected?? I highly doubt it. It's Klez and that's the way it works.

I had a virus about 2 months ago and didn't think I had one either because the people that emailed to tell me that I had one was not in my address book and I hadn't emailed them for months and I didn't have their email in my email program at all because I delete them after awhile...

Makes you wonder don't it?

I have a virus program and scan every morning. would everyone just block me and make me happy? if you want me, just post here.

No problem here. I can't block my friend from emailing me. Just have to be careful and watch closely to see what comes in and make a responsible decision about it.

I finally got rid of Klez on my puter..what a pain it is..I use Mcafee professional it catches it..norton is supposed to..but sometimes misses it.

are all these virus emails have attachments? I forward all my file emails that I plan to open to my hotmail alter ego address and hotmail scans with the latest virus protectors automatically. Then I open it from there, not saved to my hard drive. It sure seems to work. Now watch me get it!!!

I'll join the infected club I think. I'm using my daughter's computer while mine is having it's power supply replaced. She would be so PO'd if she knew about this. She has McAfee on hers, and awhile ago I got a message that Mcafee had a file missing. I re-downloaded it and thought it was working fine, but obviously not. Things started acting strange last night, so I deleted McAfee totally and paid $45 to download Norton 2002. I was up until 2:30 downloading, installing and running this. Norton's now tells me it's gone, but I'm not so sure. I've run the scan over and over and over and it doesn't find it anymore. The virus I got was W32.Elkern.4926, which is a variant of Klez, and I've read that it will stay resident and reinfect your computer? Don't open any email from me either until I know for sure that it's gone for good.

Oh tIG, I always always look forward to your email; please don't stop. I have never ever had a problem.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

oh Roz, that's sweet. Joan, I might be in your recent files, I'll let you know if anything starts coming, but it wouldn't be addressed from you anyway, so there's no way to really know. We just have to stay on our toes, and keep the virus programs up to date. If anyone doesn't scan daily, DO. if you don't update your virus files at minimum weekly, DO!!

According to AOL you can go to these sites for help. Symantec has a fix it program you can download free I believe............. I did not read it all for I do not need to for myself evidently.......... thank god! I can only get it if I actually download a file or click on a hyperlink in an email that is infected since I have AOL.
Hope this info helps someone.

tiG, that's what I like about Norton's. It automatically updates when you go online and scans daily if you set it up that way. I have that on my computer that's in the shop now, and I love it. It's now on DD's computer too, but she doesn't know that yet. LOL! I'm not telling either until I know I have it fixed. Then I'll fess up as to why I changed her antivirus program to Norton 2002. This is probably a lot my fault, because when I started using this computer, I wasn't at all familiar with McAfee and thought I had it back in working order. But, what I didn't know was it was the virus that made it stop working.

Dumb mistake, I should have known better or been more attentive to what it was or wasn't doing. I just hope and pray that it's gone now.

for anyone that doesn't have protection right now, go to www.grisoft.com and download the free version. It's really free, you can set it to update daily, all the things that Norton and Mcafee do. and it will protect you against the same things!

Hi tiG, you are still up? I am usually the last one on brugs everynight......... you all go to bed and leave me alone! Sometimes Liz is up with me.

Hamilton, Canada

tiG,
i'm not trying to imply anything about you sending the virus emails...i'm just stating that the emails are appearing from both your addy's in case someone else sees them in their email box. its meant to alert ANYONE who receives an email with the subject line- "HTML media and proxy cache" from missytig, or missytig2, dave or logee.com as well as a host of others...an email with the subject line "HTML media and proxy cache" has a virus on it. they all arrive with the same subject line.

i don't save email addresses on my computer so i can't infect anyone's computer.
