Confusion in my Brug patch

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

Now that different ones are coming out in bloom I'm finding that some aren't what I thought they were. This one is marked Solid Gold but it's not. It's leaves are slightly serrated and it is more orange than gold as the flower gets older. Dr Suess????

Well I am a rank beginner and your flower looks to me to be the same as mine with no name but possibly Dr. Seuss.
I'll post a picture of it again.

I have a Solid Gold too from a cutting last year - waiting for a bloom. Which site has the picture of it?

Here is one from our favorite site. ;-)

my solid gold looks like the ones in brugies hyperlink but I think that snow could still have solid gold mine also has the slightly serrated leaves but because of weather climate ect. the flower could be a lighter color or a different shade. Also you have to take in the fact that you and I may have a solid gold cross instead of a pure solid gold

Hmm, as Pete would say I'm confused as a baby raccoon. LOL.
I was confused as to what this one was because I have two SG in bloom now and this one was a different color with more orange in it.It could possibly be a cross Pete.

did you see if it matches insignis gold?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

No tig I didn't. I'll try to find a picture and compare.

Is it just me? I haven't seen it bloom in person yet - but that picture looks just like my Grimaldi. The colour it is later in the summer. It gets very gold. brugcrazy- what do you think? - you have the same climate.

Looks like CG alright. Definitely not Insignis Gold, wrong flower shape.

Liz and Jeanne, the leaves are serrated though. Would'nt that make it a Dr Suess?

Snow, if the leaves are serrated a lot and it doesn't change colour then I think it's Dr. Suess. I think that's what Kyle said. CG changes colour and can have a few serrated leaves. Or it could be a CG cross. Are we confused enough yet? I sure am.

Dr Suess goes gold too. maybe not as gold, but gold.

Some days I think it was easier when we called them pink, yellow and white.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

i second that, don't know why i even posted on this thread. i do call pinks pink now if they are insignis of suavolens.

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Well Arlene, at least you know the difference when looking at a suaveolens or an insignis. Without tags, I don't know one from the other. Just love em all in one way or another.

oh Shirley!! I thought it was just me!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

tig and shirley: i can tell the pink aureas, candidas and versicolors that i have. they have intact labels and i pretty much trust them to be what they are supposed to be. the other 40 pinks i have growing..... are pink.

Newnan, GA(Zone 8a)

if it wasn't for labels, I'd be lost!!! you can tell from the leaves, I haven't gotten that far!

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

yes, i can tell what i call frosty pink by the leaves, but i have no clue what it really is!!!!

Whew!! Now I'm starting to feel better. I guess I should make a better attempt at learning all this stuff, but after spending all those years in school, I don't want to have to do that. If it just happens to stick in the brain, I'm lucky. I have trouble remembering what I had for supper last night, so learning and remembering probably wouldn't come easy for me. I bought paint pens to label stuff this year. Last year the labels faded, but I had so few I could remember what they were.
