Seedling trees available

Grove City, OH(Zone 6a)

I have 2 (only 2!) seedling trees available now; will have 2 more in the fall when dormant. They are Golden Rain tree, Koelreuteria paniculata. They are about 8" tall now, very healthy, lots and lots of foliage.

I managed to get the whole root system into small pots, and while still in active growth will have to send them that way, unless you live close enough to pick them up (postage will be $5.25 for the next week, not sure after that).

They grow to about 10' in a few years, then slow down their growth, may take several years to flower. Good shade tree for smaller yards.

E-mail me if you want to give a baby tree a good home.

wow, what a beautiful tree. i love the seed pods. Do they germinate where they touch the ground? I have a maple tree whose seed pods germinate in the grass, on top of bark mulch , in bright sun or darkest shade, under soil or on top of soil....got the idea. :)
would like to know more about living with this tree. :)
thanks debi z

Debi,

This tree blooms from late June through early August (for me). That means that most of the time, the seeds don't ripen enough to germinate. They are not "weedy" like most maples and ash and locusts that germinate immediately. At least not here in the north. I understand that further south they can become invasive for just that reason.

Our fall lasted long enough that the seeds did ripen (got our first killing frost in mid-December!) So I got a few seedling trees.

I don't know what pollinates this tree, some kind of insect probably, and not too many of them around here, so only a few were pollinated. Probably a good thing. But to have a tree in full bloom in the middle of summer is wonderful! I get tired of only green leaves for 6 months!
