Bean seasoning

Fort Collins, CO(Zone 5a)

Now that bean season is almost here, I wonder how you season your green and wax beans. Ham or bacon and onions seem to be traditional, but I've never used those since I discovered summer savory. Toss salt and some crushed summer savory into boiling water*, add the beans, cook to the consistency you like, drain, then add butter or margarine. Yum!

* Until I met a chef online, I always salted water before heating it because it was easy. Then I read her recipe that included pasta. She said to add the salt after the water boils because you don't want to cook it in *brine*. Good point. :)
