Brugmansia Fantasma

Livermore, CA(Zone 9a)

Hi, I was just looking at Karutz's Brug. list and saw this
one offered. Does anyone know if it is hard to get growing or have any information on it.

Actually..someone said it is just their name for Shredded white from NHE in Fla.

It is shredded white, but is also easy to grow. Mine will open its first bloom in a couple of days. Just got it this spring.

I asked Karutz and he said it was the same. Earl at Valley Growers has the shredded and you may get it even cheaper if you buy it from him on ebay.
Shirley, I did not know you had the shredded. do you love it?

Kell,
You know that guy at Karutz told Dee that Solandra Maxima doesn't seed and I just sent Brugcrazy seeds off my Maxima. LOL

Live and learn Glory! I just looked up Solandra Maxima. Very pretty. Don't you love the internet? Everything at your fingetips. Do you grow it as a vine or a bush?
Kelley

Kell,
I grow mine as a vine but because we do get a little winter here it has to stay in the greenhouse in the winter. You should be able to grow it where you live...does it ever get cold there?

It will freeze for a few nights. Even a light snow once every 10 years........ but melts in hours! Though my house seems to be in a weird colder zone. All around me people grow huge hibiscus and mine usually die from the cold in the winter. In fact I have decided not buy any more ever!!!! I just gave up hope on 3 standards I got last year and just tossed. here though it is cool most nights even during the hottest days. We do have great weather!

That you all for the information. That is what I suspected. I will probably buy it if I make it too the their nursury while I am in S. Calif. next week.

Guess I should have explained that I wrote to Mike Kartuz and asked him about Fantasma vs. Shredded White and he wrote back that they are one and the same.

Glory, thats great! Is it selffertile? I got a Kangaroo-apple the other day. I was fashinated by these deep lobed shiny leaves. Its Solanum aviculare and I have seen fruits on it, so it must be self fertile lol The flowers are bluish and not very large and the fruits looks like small, round peppers :-) Man at the nursery said, that it could grow to 9 ft. ... ???

Thanks so much Gloria, I'll be sending my envelope to you tomorrow.

Jeanne,
Thanks

Tonny,
I had pollinated the Maxima with pollen from the Maxima...is that considered self pollinating?
