Hello farmers. The lawn (ha!) is mowed and it's break for lunch time. I have 2 wheelbarrows full of clippings to use for mulch, not sure where yet but I always find a place to use them. Breezy seemed like his sore leg was bothering him just a little after our ride yesterday, bummer! Will this ever end? I let him stand for half an hour before I put him back into the corral, that is when it showed up. Tomorrow I will take him to get a vaccination and blood test and might ask the vet to check him for sore spots. In a couple of weeks I plan to take him to one of the rides where there will be a vet who is also an equine massage specialist since I feel there is more going on with him than I have been able to figure out. Another of our horses is coughing so I guess this bug will run through everyone before it is done like the bug we had last fall which was much worse. That may stop me from taking Breezy to the ride to have his muscles worked on, I hope not. Bullwinkle acts like his energy is comming back, I thought he was going to run over me this morning comming to get his grain. That was good to see. Last evening the neighbor's cow that is here with the bull showed up with a calf. The owner had put her here for company with the bull since he thought she was open. Shortly after I saw the calf the mules did too and they started chasing it so I went down there with a halter and lead rope and brought the horses and mules up to a small pasture near the house. They were happy with the new grass and the filly in the next pasture thought that was wonderful. Now every time they get out of her sight she whinnies for them and runs around with her tail in the air, so she is getting some extra exercise which she needs. I think she gains weight on air just looking at the grass across the fence. She is confined because she was getting too fat and was in danger of founder. Time for me to get back to work, the weeds are growing fast. Have a good day everyone, count your blessings.
