Hi Everyone.
Things are not good at our house. Took DH to the ER on Sunday with eye problems. Monday to the doctor. Diagnosis was poison ivy. Wed. to the Dr. again and this time he said Shingles. Wed. afternoon to the eye doctor. This poor guy is swelled, oozing, hurting, and the worst part is that his right eye is swelled shut. Takes both of us to get the eye drops in. The shingles are from under his eye up and over his nose, forehead, and into his scalp several inches. Last night he slept on his left side and the swelling is now under his left eye. As the eye doctor said this morning, "water runs downhill" and not to worry as he won't get this stuff on the left side of his face. He is absolutely bored and depressed. It looks horrible and I feel so sorry for him because of the pain. Fortunately it was caught "in time" but not timely, and he doesn't have the shingles deep under his eye, just on the surface. The eye doctor told him that they would get to know each other very well during the next six months or so. I know this is going to be a long and drawn out healing process, but just wondered if anyone else had gone through this and what you did to cope. I feel like I can't get too far away because he might need me. His balance isn't good due to only seeing from one eye. I don't want him to get too spoiled, but I don't want him to think I don't care enough either. Such a dilemma for me. Thanks for listening. This is going to be a hard summer for both of us, but we will make it though and do our best to enjoy some part of it. By the way, we can't go anyplace with family and small kids because he can give them the chickenpox because of this stuff, so we are confined to home. Bummer!!
