oh my goodness!!! I couldn't live there! does he do a lot of damage?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

No tiG, He doesn't do any damage but the big one that comes smashes up my feeders and has been raiding everyones trash and dragging it down the road.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

Oh bear and it must be enjoy vist with your beautiful garden. LOL

Herbstein, Germany(Zone 5a)

What a surprise in the early morning snow! Good that he didnt damage your brug path. Is it a young bear! Looks so small to me. Hope, he doesnt find out, how sweet Brug nectar tastes!

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

DH said he was keeping an eye on him so he would'nt do damage to my plants. He is a small bear. The other one that comes is much bigger.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

No doubt another brug lover! How can anyone resist them?

Must be the day for critters.....just had a snake in my driveway...he went one way and I went the other way. LOL

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

So glad something like that hasn't found my brug garden. The deer and rabbits are bad enough. Well, guess if I had a bear in the brug garden, wouldn't have to worry about the other critters eating them.

Belfield, ND(Zone 4a)

Oh my! If I lived there this photo would be enough to end my gardening-by-flashlight escapades. Yikes! Is he standing on that barrel?

Angleton, TX(Zone 9a)

Snow . . . I am so glad that he is in your back yard and not mine!!!

Sykesville, MD(Zone 7b)

I can't imagine seeing that in my backyard... would scare the living daylights out of me. Although, it makes QUITE a pic ! They're not coming around in the daytime ,?? I hope. Do you have kids or pets? Is there anything you can do to deter them ? Anyhow... AMAZING picture ! I'd have that one framed and on my wall if I were you. =)

Cedar Key, FL(Zone 9a)

Boy ,and I worry about my horses getting loose and trolliping through the brug patch....don't want one of those in there! You'd think the feds would come up with a bear repellent!!!

(Zone 5a)

Oh my goodness, I don't know what I would do if I saw a bear in my yard. Have you tried spraying your grabage with something that will cover the scent of it, or is he just after your sunflowers and bird feeders?

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

My monitor is probably wearing out because I can't see him. Maybe it is my eyes that are wearing out. In any case, I don't know if I could handle having bears around me. Be careful with those midnight strolls through the brug alley........

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

We have several bear come every year to visit along with a moose now and then and Fisher Cat and Bobcat. We gave up on farm animals after a bear killed our goat so now the only thing outside is plants. My little grand children are never out of my sight when they are outside. They do come sometimes in the day time but before I can get a picture my barking dogs usually have scared them into the woods.
Shirley, it's a hard picture to see because it was still pretty dark out but try enlarging it and I think you will see it.

Bodrum, Turkey(Zone 10a)

oh wow - that is something else....

Hattiesburg, MS(Zone 8a)

I'll take the heat and humidity any day over bears. Cute in the wild and zoos but not and I repeat not in the backyard!!

Chariton, IA(Zone 5b)

Sorry Terry, I tried again and looked and it is just too dark on my monitor. I can see a brug, and some spots, but that is it. No problem, I've seen bear before. Just don't want them in MY back yard.

Northern Piedmont, NC(Zone 7b)

Shirley, I couldn't see anything either, even took my glasses off and looked up close. Had to save it and lighten it to see what I am glad we don't have around here!

I love it. Thats my kind of living, someday. Neighbor around the corner has some bear in pens. Every once in awhile they get walked around the pond. Later this fall they will start walking the reindeer around the pond also. Always a site to see!

Just catching up to my old e-mail and I saw this post. It really hits home here. Not only has a bear dragged off my bird feeders but it raids my seed container as well! It has been in my vermicomposter And eaten quit a lot of the contents. Worms too! Every day the little one gets more brazen. It has become so used to us that it is nothing to open the front door and be startled by seeing it within mere inches from the front doorstep. Barney was outside and he circled around him....the normal reaction would be for the bear to run. We are very seriously considering calling the game warden to have it relocated. The girls might surprise it some day and get a nasty surprise.

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

Not to mention Fairyhunter, that bears have been known to open doors and make themselves at home!

Brooksville, ME(Zone 5a)

The bear had become much too comfortable with us and our yard. We called the game warden about him and since he has been visiting the other neighbors just as casually he is going to see about relocating the bear with a live trap. All the neighbors have small children who play outside. It just isn't safe. Barney helped to relocate a bear about 6 years ago at a local girls camp. The caretaker is a friend of his who knew of his hunting experience. He helped bait the bear right to the trap and was there the day they took the bear away. It was really surprising how tame the bear had become at that point. He said it hardly put up a fuss at all about beng in the trap. They decided the night that one of the girls was alone in the Dinning Room making a phone call to her mother that they needed to get rid of that bear. She was on the phone and in walks in this black bear. she made tracks out the back door with the phone still haging off the hook! The screen door was easy to push open for the bear. Made them wonder how many times the bear had done this.

Newberry, FL(Zone 8B)

Now that is scary, i'll take the bugs and gators anyday. we have brown bears getting killed on highways down here but i have never seen one.

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

fairyhunter, I was in your neck of the woods a couple of weeks ago. If I remember the name right I stopped at Grants Store.

Brooksville, ME(Zone 5a)

Wow you must be a regular visitor to call ECS Grants. Billy hasn't owned the store in years. Now its called Eggemoggin Country Store of all things. You were close! The girls camp I was talking about was the 4 Winds Girls Camp. I love this area. Pretty isn't it?

Woodsville, NH(Zone 4a)

It's a beautiful area.Maybe I've got the name of the store wrong. It looked like a modern store. Can't remember if it had gas pumps or not.

New Iberia, LA(Zone 9a)

WOW.. dont let them in my backyard but we hardly see any bears around where we lives.. Yesterday we saw a rabbit went toward to our shed. They get used to us now and let us watch them playing around which it was so funny.
