In my garden

Gulfport, MS(Zone 8a)

Early this morning I went out to my back yard alone. There was WEEDS (pineapple sage) smelling great and Azalea (ice plant) growing everywhere. On the side was tIG (passiflora) climbing the wooden fence. Lots of Glories standing in the middle of the big flower bed, arms outstretched and full of flowers. In fact, Glory is everywhere (ruella, black elephant ears, brugs, morning glory tree, hibiscus, etc, etc. etc). Over on the side flower bed is Brugie (Shirley's peach brug) being somewhat crowded by Gingerlilly (monk's hood, ginger). I noticed Gone2Seed (eucalyptus) doesn't like the sun, but Irish (cactus) loves it. Moving to another flower bed, I see Calalily (Eq. Pink brug)in full bloom as well as DeeinFla (Jean Pasco). Glory (JessieNoel) is growing but has no buds, nor has Brugmansia (Eric's hybrid). Moving on around the yard, I noticed Calalily (passiflora)is much too crowded in the pot but jcf (passiflora) is in the ground with lots of growing room. Over on the other side, Glory (ruella) is doing well and WEEDS ( crinum) looks healthy. jcf (spider lily) is growing slowly, may need more water. My DH came out and said how nice the garden looked. I said, "Yes, thanks to all these great people here" He says "What people?" "Well", I explained, "There's Connie and Phyllis and I think Bonnie will be over the fence by the end of the week. Gloria, Suzie, Shirley, and Dee are getting reallllly big, I feed them a lot, you know. Over on the side is Eric and J.T. and Pete is by himself in the corner.Janet and Suzie cannot contain themselves. I had no idea Pam would get so big - seems to be crowding Shirley a bit." He asked if I ever had conversations with these folks, and I told him yes, except for Eric, and Bonnie brought him to me at the Florida swap and Gloria sent

Shirley over last Winter. Pointing to a pot of Bromeliads on the porch he said, " Guess you don't know who that is, huh?" I answered, " Course I do. That's Virginia, Connie's Mom." Pointing to a new bromeliad pup coming up in the pot, I said, " Oh, look Virginia has a new baby." My dh looked smug and said " Well, then Connie has a new brother or sister." I gave him a blank stare and told him ," I have no idea what you are talking about." With that he went to work. THANK YOU EVERYBODY!!!!!

Roz, great essay. I know what you mean, I tend to think of the plants I got in trades by who sent them to me...

Roz - that is one of the nicest posts I've ever seen on daves or anywhere. You're truly blessed to have so many friends.

Incredible, and to think that all these people are just beyond the field....i simply MUST come over and add a ME to the garden!!!!
Now, to find something that you dont already have!!
Did you say you had an EP in bloom? I'm so jealous!!

Roz, this is so cool. I, too, felt like I was there and could almost see everything so clearly. I call my gardens my "Friendship Gardens" because they are made up of all the stuff that you all have sent me. I'm sure it is this way with a lot of us. I'm so glad you wrote this. It is so nice and what better way to remember all the friends who have helped build our gardens.

Paxton, FL(Zone 8a)

Roz, that was beautiful! I can remember who gave me some of the plants I got, and some came by courier (usually Lauren)so that I didn't always know who sent them over. Many times I've wished I had written it all down. You were smart enough to at least put your labels with your name on it and that was nice. But every time I look at the plants I received at the swap, I think about all of you and all the fun we had. I hope I can make it to the next one whenever it is and where ever it is. Thank you, and thank everyone.

That post means we need to start planning for the fall swap.

Awesome Roz. Isn't it great that so many memories of all the friends here in DG is spread from coast to coast and even beyond in everyones garden?

Deep South Coastal, TX(Zone 10a)

Jonesboro, GA(Zone 7b)

I think we all have kind thoughts when we stroll through our gardens -they are truly "Friendship" gardens. Thanks for the memories!

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

It also would be interesting to see how many states (and countries)are represented in your garden. Dave's is such a great way to bring us all together...................to experience distant places through new friends. Roz, what a great and fun way to express your love to your friends.
