My very first Bloom- Dwarf Ballrina Datura

N.C. Mts., NC(Zone 6b)

I'm so excited. I thought it would never open. How long will the bloom last? Is this a double? It has lost 3 leaves from the bottom, they had brown spots on them. What can I do for that?

Hey Edna, that is sooooo pretty...do you start it from a bulb or buy the plant or seeds? I have never seen this before...where do you have it...out near the water wheel? You are outdoing yourself since you're on here with these expert gardeners!!! Now I will add you to the experts..

Mary K - sorry to say these pretty blooms only last one evening and close when the sun get bright the next day, sort if like Morning Glories. They are easily grown from seeds. I have some single seeds if you want them, but you are looking at a double or triple.

Your datura bloom is so pretty. I have one single blooming now and another getting ready to bloom, but not even a single bud on my doubles. I don't think my double purple is even going to grow. Just sits there looking at me. The leaves on your plant look good and healthy. Mine have holes in them from caterpillars. Can't find them and can't seem to find a spray that will kill them. I'm sure BT would get them, but I don't know what it would do to the plants. You keep up the good work on the dats. This one looks great. Does it smell good in the evening too?

Redrose , will save you seeds. Dear SIL MaryK, you know I'm not an expert in anything, just love flowers.
Azalea, I sure didn't know the blooms only lasted one day. I can see three more buds. Thanks Brugie, It has a faint smell. How long do the Brugmansias bloom last. I'm hoping longer than one day.

It sure is an odd color with the green showing like it isn`t quite ripe yet. Lizh, if it makes plenty of seed I will be glad to send postage or trade for a few.

I just took another picture of it today and it has lost the green-yellow color. not as fully opened, but still pretty
