Last year my best friend's noticed that a couple of hummers had been caught in the bright colored tranducers (not sure if this is the right word for it) part of the electric fence. It looks so much like the bright red color of a hummingbird feeder. They love hummers and feed them at the house.
anyhow they took some duller colored paint and painted all the tranducers a dull color to save the hummers.
Just a thought.
