Good morning everyone. It looks like another beautiful day on the way - two in a row!!
We did find the calf, a bull with a mind of his own. The other 4 dry cows were sharing him out amongst them. Stan had to run him down to get him in the truck - Jess was with him and thought it was funny, as long as she was in the truck. When they got it home, he had to drag it out of the truck, and the string broke! Another chase around the shed and into the calf pasture. The calves were not interested, so Stan was able to catch him again. lol, what a little pain!
My cousin called Sunday night and said she and her son were out for a visit with her dad and could they come up to the farm. I, of course, said yes. They said they'd be here at 10, but it was more like 11 and they brought my aunt along. Her son is Tom's age, and the idea was for him and Jessie to play while we looked at the roses and talked. Being the only child of older parents - she's a year younger than I am - he didn't want his mother to get too far away, so I was running back and forth between my aunt and my cousin and the kids. Then they decided to stay for lunch! She had vegetarian burgers in a cooler, got into my kitchen and started cleaning (!). In the middle of all of this, my mom called, so I told her to come on over as Dad was off shooting skeet. By the time they all left, I hoped I had energy enough to get to the couch! No nap, though, 4 phone calls and someone to use the phone because he'd run out of gas at our driveway.
Stan snuck off and mowed some hay to bale later in the week. I think he was very happy to get away!
Today, I hope to get some gardening done - my cousin also started weeding at one point, but I told her not to bother, I was just going to mow that bit down. I don't mind help, but . . . LOL, it all felt like I'd been overwhelmed by a tidal wave. Jess slept for almost 2 hours, I guess it was more than she was ready for, too.
KJo, it sounds like you're doing pretty well, just don't jump the gun when you do start to feel better. It will indeed be there next year.
EvaMae, I'll keep you all in my prayers.
take good care
Kathleen
