should I plant my leggy brug deeper than the roots?

San Leandro, CA(Zone 9b)

I just got 2 brugs in the mail. 1 is about 18 inches tall with a good nickel size at least diameter stalk in a 4 inch pot with a small new root system. The other is 1 foot tall with a smaller than a dime diameter stalk in a 2 inch pot. Do you think if I plant them deeper than the current roots, like at least 1/2 of the stem under the soil, they will root all along the shaft and get off to a faster start? I do this with leggy tomatoes and it seems to really give it a stronger root system fast.
thanks

I've done that with good success Kell. You can also try laying the rooted cutting sideways and burying the whole thing. Shoots will emerger from the side and make for a very nice plant indeed. I have done this with some very tall rooted specimens and gained much satisfaction from this.

kell, that is a great question! especially since they are in the tomato family. i sure don't know why not.

Arlene, they are in the tomato family??? No wonder my instant love of them, I travel miles to get a great tomato. Funny though that 1 is good for you and one will kill you! LOL

kell, you can trust Brugmansia, he is great! been hybridizing for years and has composted more than most of us will ever see in our life time.
they say tomato wilt virus can be spread to brugs and if you have brugs betcha those horn worms eat your brugs before the tomato.

Never had a problem with horn worms on Brugs - but I know for a fact that if you wrap a 4" piece of foil around the base of the tomatoes they will not cross it!!

I'm wondering if that will work for those bratty brown cats. I'm picking them off all the time! they especially love whiskers for some reason.

Maybe - it's worth a try
